I totally dig it, this strange children's fantasy. If I had read this as a kid it would have been a favourite. I missed out there, Mum??
The weird, ironic, charismatic characters from the Munchkins to the Winged Monkeys are just too cool. The story is quirky, some parts are out-there and slightly violent in ways.

A childhood favourite.

My first experience with the series was with the movie "Return to Oz", which in Italy was titled similarly to The Marvelous Land of Oz making it harder to tell it was a sequel.

Classic story I read again, 45 years later. I read this at the same time as "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" and noticed the similarity of fable/wonder tale.

Part of the Wicked collection but it was fun to go back and reread the original story. It’s been decades since I did and seeing Dorothy arrive by cyclone, killing the Wicked Witch of the East and getting her silver shoes before embarking on a trip to meet the wizard was so fun. After rereading Wicked, you really see how Maguire emphasized the world giving Boq a larger backstory, more history of the kingdoms and realms Dorothy travels through and more.

I read this book several times as a kid, and this was my first time reading it as an (official) adult. It's still 150+ pages of pure magic and delight. I'd write a longer review, but now I have to get started on rereading the rest of the Oz books because I remember how sad I was that the book ended and how thrilled I was to learn that there were MOAR Oz books.
