Having Death as the narrator was genius. The fact that Death has such dry humor and shows such fascination of the human nature just makes it all even better.
That being said, the story itself is very heavy reading. All books from the world wars are like that, especially the second world war I tend to think. This book had been on my to-read list for quite some time because I was intrigued by the title. I didn't know anything about it, I just liked the title.
I was intrigued by Death as narrator. It caused me to think about Death from a different perspective and I found some of the thoughts and ideas of Death very interesting and counter to popular lore.

Yes, I liked this just as much this time as during my first reading. The narrator is quite good and perfect as the voice of Death. I was moved, and I cried, but I also laughed, especially during the strings of abuse and profanity that came out of Rosa's mouth. This is in part because of the hilarious, less than positive review written by Sophia (on my page her review is the first one). I also laughed every time the lemon-haired boy was mentioned.
