عماد العتيلي (emadreads) This year 2013 I managed to read 51 books. So, for next year 2014 I aim to read 75 books, and most of them are books that I can't believe I didn't manage to read yet!

I will share with you the top 13 titles I'm gonna read in 2014, and I will keep on adding books when I finish reading them.

2. The Iliad & The Odyssey
3. Mythology
4. The Idiot
5. Demons
6. Works of T. S. Eliot
7. In Search of Lost Time
8. The Book Thief
9. Life After Life
10. American Gods
11. The Graveyard Book
12. The Captain's Daughter

T.S. Eliot is by far my favorite poet. The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock is my favourite poem in the world!

The Book Thief is also amazing!

I might have to join you in reading The Iliad/The Odyssey, The Idiot and Demons!

Great list, Emad!

I plan to read some Proust this year, too, so maybe we can encourage each other as we go. :)

عماد العتيلي (emadreads) Faye, that's great :) I heard that In Search of Lost Time is pretty good. I'm sure we will enjoy reading it. Good luck for us both ^_^

عماد العتيلي (emadreads) You should do it Holly :)

message 16: by Kassandra (new)

Kassandra | -1 comments Emad - best of luck with your list. You have some great picks there to start you on your goal. The Iliad and The Odyssey are some of my favourites. I would love to hear what you think of them when you finish.

message 17: by عماد (new)

عماد العتيلي (emadreads) Sure :)
Thank you very much Kassandra, and good luck to you too ^_^

message 18: by Francine (new)

Francine | 46 comments For your Bible read through, there are a number of websites that break it down into a schedule - reading only a couple of chapters per day. I thought that it might be easier for you (it would be for me!) to do it this way rather than sitting down to read 29 chapters of 1 Chronicles, which might drag a bit. :)
Good luck!!

message 19: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Hey Emad my church is doing the bible reading challenge too and we are doing 3 chapters a day starting out like yesterday was Genesis 1-3 and today is 4-6 then tomorrow is 7-9 and Saturday is 10-12 and then we get new days and chapter scripture readings each week from our church bulletin as they post the dates and chapters there. My mom are doing that one together. Good luck though! Enjoy the graveyard book too.

message 20: by عماد (new)

عماد العتيلي (emadreads) Francine, thank you so much. I'm taking it slow. yesterday, I read chapters 1 & 2, and today I read 3 & 4. Good luck to you too ^_^

Amber, I wish I could join you actually! by the way, I'm reading both Old and New Testaments! on my iPad, the whole book is like 5000 pages!! you started yesterday with Genesis, so I guess you're reading the new testament, right? -- to be honest, I don't know the difference btwn Old and New Testaments!!!! don't freak out!!! it's weird I know!
wish me luck :)

message 21: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) No genesis is old testament. so we are doing the whole bible.

message 22: by عماد (new)

عماد العتيلي (emadreads) really? aha! Great :) I've reached chapter 5.Tomorrow I'm gonna read 6 - 9 so I can catch up with you.
thank you very much Amber :)

message 23: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) No problem at all Emad. My church is giving us the dates for the bible reading challenge every Sunday so we only got the dates for Jan 1-4 so far and Saturday is genesis 10-12. I'm reading 4-6 tonight before bed as my bible is on my desk near my bed and my journal so I don't forget to do it. I'm doing this with my regular reading challenge too. :)

message 24: by عماد (new)

عماد العتيلي (emadreads) Good luck Amber :) I'd really appreciate it if you'd keep me posted on the dates. Thanks ^_^

message 25: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) I will sure do that Emad. ^_^ No problem.
