The best read I've had in a long time. Fresh from finishing this amazing book, I'm in awe of Zusak's ability to create such an impact. Narrated by death, a story of Liesel's life and the people she meets in Germany during World War 2, you can feel death hovering and the raw emotion for the characters become held in the pit of your stomach. This is a wonderfully touching story. Be prepared to cry! I love Zusak's use of death as the narrator, yet he does it in a way that is very nuanced and not at all what you would think Death would sound like. It's one of those stories that sticks with you long after you've read it.

Highly recommend this book. Great story, wonderful characters. Very unique -- the narrator is Death. Liesel is a foster child who loves and steals books in Nazi Germany. This line from the book sums it up: "It's just a small story, really, about, among other things:
