What Members Thought

A deeply beautiful story.

3.5 stars. I love humorous, magical fantasy, which is what I was looking for when I picked this up. This book wants to make a Point, though, and although I agree with the point, it’s too heavy-handed here, imo and will lose ppl who may need to read it, if that makes sense.
In addition, the audio narration was awful, truly awful. Daniel Henning narrated one of the children in the story using the voice of the Charlie-in-the-box character (he was a Jack-in-the-box character named Charlie instead) f ...more

I really enjoyed this. I love magic and fantasy so knew going in I would like that part. The story has a good message and I like how it was presented. The children in the story were great. All unique, interesting and special. I definitely liked the beginning and the ending the best. There was a bit in the middle where I felt my mind wandering. I think it could have had less build up. Once we get to the ending, all the feels kick in. I had tears in my eyes. I enjoyed all the characters, but Lucy

The feel good book of the year. I am in love with this book! Klune’s beautifully written novel is the ultimate romance story. I believe there truly must be changes within the release of neurotransmitters of the reader’s body while reading this book. One cannot help but literally fall in love with life, with oneself and their compassion for humanity increases tenfold. A must read!

I was not prepared to like this book. I had heard so much about it...so many recommendations. But I knew virtually nothing about its content. When I received the book and read to cover blurb, I almost sent it back without reading as it did not sound like something I would generally like. In the end I decided to give it a try, and I am so glad I did. This captivatingly magical story entranced me from the beginning and I completely fell in love with the characters. If you are looking for something

The audio narration of this quirky tale along with a diverse and colorful set of characters makes it magical; the message of embracing how we are different instead of being afraid of what we don't try to understand adds depth to what at first glance is a children's story. Out of the mouths of babes.
