This book was very interesting and well explained to non-professionals like me, but unfortunately I also found it very boring. I don't know if it's the topic itself (extinction) that maybe wasn't suitable for reading during the pandemic, or maybe I just preferred not to know some things, but finishing it was a relief.

It is interesting that so many reviews label the book as depressing.

The fact that we humans cause so much environmental damage is depressing. Not the book.

It was a pretty good read, but did not meet with my expectations. For those of us that read a lot about environmental issues, there is not much new here. I thought I would learn more about extinction in general, and read less about the author's anecdotes in researching the book. I thought the book might include a comparison of the ongoing exti
