First of all, I was seduced by this gorgeous cover. I think the cover does reflect the narrative. Unfortunately I didnt enjoy this book a whole lot. I love stories about old Cuba, that Cuba that Cuban Americans have embellished in their memory. Old Cuba before the revolution was a great Cuba for some and not others. I had a lot of problems with this book but I don't have the energy to fully review it right now. I did take extensive notes, though, so maybe that'll come another time.
