Putting a placeholder review for this in light of recent events, but this is an essential read. While I read it years ago, I want to give room to do it justice with a full discussion.

A very moving and evocative account of the genocide suffered by the native Americans following white expansion into their territories. The author supports their representation of events with evidence, which was hardly hidden by the perpetrators as they believed themselves to be following the dictates of 'Manifest Destiny', an illogical justification for everything that happened.
