This is a story about a mother and young son imprisoned in a single room for years. I know a lot of people loved this book - and it does draw you in. However the second half of the book was a let down for me and I wanted a fuller resolution at the end.

Emma Donogue packed so many emotions into this incredible novel. She channeled the voice of 5-year-old Jack, the storyteller of the only world he has known: one room. In the beginning, we don't know the room that Jack is describing. Nor do we realize that he and his mother are captives of a madman in this room. What we do understand is that Jack and his mother have developed a life of discovery and wonder within the four walls of their prison and that the time has come for them to escape. This s ...more
