I am only giving it 5 stars because more isn’t an option. This book made me feel so many emotions and by the end the author felt like an old friend. I simultaneously wanted to finish it and never wanted it to end—kind of like therapy.
It is so good. Period. You will want to read it. And then you will want Lori Gottlieb to be your therapist or your best friend or both.

I read this book because I’m fascinated by the therapeutic process and how we can change. The book started off slow and was kind of all over the place for me, bouncing between patient stories and the author’s own story. But then it started to meld together and by the end, I cared about the patients.
