Set in occupied France, this is an awesome tale of survival, resistance, and love. Told from the perspective of two sisters from a broken family, this book has heart and I loved it!!
A novel about the nature of love and war as it’s waged both between countries and within families. The writing jarred sometimes in its efforts to sound authentic, and the World War II action and setting felt pretty well worn. However, a curiosity about the fate of some of the characters carried me along to the end of the story.
Syrupy writing. Predictable story. I wanted to like the book, but it fell flat.
I enjoyed the realistic characters and the integrity and strength of the women. This story about WWII was very thought provoking and emotional. The story made my heart ache & brings your emotions to the forefront. It really made me think could I have withstood so much and endured?
