95766 Yay! I intend to get Allegient, but probably at Christmas. I have a ton of other things to read and why go buy a hardcover when my birthday and Christmas are all smacked together? Lol.

95766 He was! He talked about how he started writing mythology and his books. He had a powerpoint of different pictures like his family and different book covers. And then he said, "And then Hollywood called." And when he clicked to the next page, there was a picture of a trainwreck! Lol.

95766 Well, not personally, but I was there during the hour long panel. He was hilarious!

He was in town to participate in the Southern Festival of Books and there were a TON of people there to see him. Due to the crowd, he didn't personally sign books, but I preordered a presigned copy for the event.

It was still a bunch of fun, though. :)

95766 Ooh, Congrats! Better get all the reading in you can, too. It'll be long days and night for you soon. XD

95766 I'm glad you like the yearly challenge! I've heard a lot of positive feedback from the Banner Challenge and the other mods and I hope to do it again next year. Sometime in December, we'll be starting a thread/poll that will ask what books you'd like to see on the banner next year, so keep a look out for that.

I've seen a few challenges that involve seasons and I like the idea - like you said, sometimes a month just isn't enough, especially once classes start back. We'll need to think of a few broad challenge ideas (like a rainbow challenge, boy POV, ect) for them.

Oh, and judging by your avvie, I guess you're a NaNo writer. I just put up a new thread about NaNo this year, so feel free to pop in and post there. ;)

95766 Rick Riordan came to town, so I got a signed first edition copy of The House of Hades!!! :D

95766 Thanks for your opinion, Brittany! I'm kinda sad there aren't more comments on this thread...

Currently, the reward for winning Reading Challenges is picking one of the books for the following month's Group Reads.

I like the idea of I Spy riddles. I'll have to work on that. ;D

Also, I've seen other groups to "Bingo" like Challenges and thought that would be fun.

95766 Too all our writers out there, you're probably scramblig to get your novel idea together because Novmeber means one thing: a rush to 50,000 words.

Will anyone be participating in National Novel Writing Month this year?

I'm going to try and do a rewrite of my novel this year, though I don't know how successful I'll be at reaching 50k, seeing as I'm in graduate school. But we'll see how it goes!

Post here if you're participating and feel free to talk about novels, NaNo issues, writing issues, and everything else that goes with NaNo.

My profile name is Mercyette, if any of you would like to add me. =D

95766 Lol, that's fine. For some reason, not very many people are nominating this month. You'd figure with a group of 600+ members, we'd have more. XD
