Just finished the book! I'm sooo aggravated by the Darkling! There has to be something we're missing. How could he be so nice at the beginning of the book, then turn out so evil in the end? But I'm happy things worked out between Mal and Alina in the end - they're a really sweet couple.

I need to get my hands on the second book now!!!!

So, I've seen other group do this - typically under the name "Reading Sprint" - and I thought it would be fun to add that option here, but it our own little twist. Why not make a game of it?

A Reading War is basically when someone wants to read for a predetermined amount of time (generally ten to thirty minutes, but it can vary). They'll make a post here saying when they want to start and then will allow time for others to join in. Once everyone has joined who wants to, you start your reading war and whomever reads the most pages in the allotted amount of time is the winner!

When posting your time, be sure to allow a while for others the join in, at least fifteen minutes or so. So, if you wanted to start a Reading War at 6:00, be sure to post your interest at least by 5:45.

Also, be sure to check back after the war and see if you're victorious! ;) Feel free to share which books you'll be reading for the wars, too, and have fun!

Let's be honest... what year/grade are you in?

Let's be honest... I stole this game from another group.

So, this is a game where you can post anything and everything you want, but there's only one catch - you have to put the words "Let's Be Honest" at the beginning of your sentence.

For example:

"Let's be honest... I really don't want to study for my math test."

"Let's be honest... math sucks anyway. Read instead."

"Let's be honest... that's a great idea!"

You get the picture. Have fun! =P

I guess I can understand why she wants to blend in, rather than stand out. After all, she was plucked from everything she knew and is now in a whole new situation she knows nothing about. I guess in that instance it would be better to try and fly below the radar, considering everyone is already talking about her.

I was wondering for the longest time why she couldn't summon her power on her own - and why she hadn't been discovered so long ago when she was tested at the orphanage. I thought a first perhaps one of the Grisha who had tested her had somehow put a spell on her to keep the power dormant, but I suppose she had simply buried it herself.

But, seriously, girl. I'm totally in love with the Darkling. I'm eager to learn more about him. I mean, we don't even really know his first name.

But like you, I'm wondering what's going to happen to Mal - and why he isn't responding to Alina's letters. This is just a hunch of mine - but I think the Darkling sent him to track the stag they want to dearly.

I guess we'll have to see!
