95766 Ahh, I'm close to finishing my current read and all the books I have at my disposal are on my list. XD Hurry up, October 5th!
Oct 02, 2013 01:52PM

95766 Lol, it will, Brittany. But don't fret. You don't have to read all 12 to still be awesome. :)
95766 Eh... Probably not as boring as you think. I mean, some of it can be pretty fascinating, but I'd MUCH rather be reading YA novels. But, alas, YA novels won't help me in IT Project Management. XD
95766 That's good to hear. I didn't get a chance to read ANY of the Group Reads last month. D= (Though I did start Uglies - I'm still half way through cause I have to keep putting it down. XD)

I'm having to read business books for uni. Bleh!
95766 I still haven't read it! >.< But I guess now's my chance!

Now if only Uni wouldn't get in the way...
95766 Please join us this month in reading Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins for Halloween!

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins

Synopsis: Three years ago, Sophie Mercer discovered that she was a witch. It's gotten her into a few scrapes. Her non-gifted mother has been as supportive as possible, consulting Sophie's estranged father--an elusive European warlock--only when necessary. But when Sophie attracts too much human attention for a prom-night spell gone horribly wrong, it's her dad who decides her punishment: exile to Hex Hall, an isolated reform school for wayward Prodigium, a.k.a. witches, faeries, and shapeshifters.
By the end of her first day among fellow freak-teens, Sophie has quite a scorecard: three powerful enemies who look like supermodels, a futile crush on a gorgeous warlock, a creepy tagalong ghost, and a new roommate who happens to be the most hated person and only vampire student on campus. Worse, Sophie soon learns that a mysterious predator has been attacking students, and her only friend is the number-one suspect.

As a series of blood-curdling mysteries starts to converge, Sophie prepares for the biggest threat of all: an ancient secret society determined to destroy all Prodigium, especially her.

You don't have to participate in the Group Read - it's entirely up to you, but if you read the book along with us or have already read it, we would love to hear your comments, questions, thoughts, ect. That's what makes the Group Read fun! Please keep from posting too many spoilers early in the month, though, as people might still be reading it. If you feel that you might "spoil" a part of the book by commenting, be sure to put something like "***Spoiler Alert***" or something to let others know to read at their own risk! And make sure to have fun!

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

95766 Please join us this month in reading Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Synopsis: Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

95766 Let's open the nominations for next month!

Since we now plan to have two Group Reads per month, we're going to have two different categories as well. So when you submit your nominations, be sure to include one book for each of the two categories:

1.) Dystopian/Paranormal/Otherworldly/ect.

And

2.) Contemporary/Real Life

Rules:
1.) Any YA novel is eligible.
2.) One nomination per person, per category.
3.) Nominations are open from the 1st until the 14th of the month, after that, I'll put all the nominated books in a poll until the 21st. I'll let you know which books won on the 22nd.
4.) Please don't nominate a book we have already read. Check our list a Group Reads to be sure it hasn't been read.
5.) Only nominate the first book in a series UNLESS we have already read #1. In this case, #2 is then eligible for nomination! Any stand alone novels are eligible.
6.) Please keep in mind that recently released books, while eligible, might make it more difficult for everyone to get a copy. It might not be available at libraries yet and not everyone is willing to shell out $20 for the hard-cover.

Happy Nominating! :D
