95766 Let's open the nominations for next month!

Since we now plan to have two Group Reads per month, we're going to have two different categories as well. So when you submit your nominations, be sure to include one book for each of the two categories:

1.) Dystopian/Paranormal/Otherworldly/ect.

And

2.) Contemporary/Real Life

Rules:
1.) Any YA novel is eligible.
2.) One nomination per person, per category.
3.) Nominations are open from the 1st until the 14th of the month, after that, I'll put all the nominated books in a poll until the 21st. I'll let you know which books won on the 22nd.
4.) Please don't nominate a book we have already read. Check our list a Group Reads to be sure it hasn't been read.
5.) Only nominate the first book in a series UNLESS we have already read #1. In this case, #2 is then eligible for nomination! Any stand alone novels are eligible.
6.) Please keep in mind that recently released books, while eligible, might make it more difficult for everyone to get a copy. It might not be available at libraries yet and not everyone is willing to shell out $20 for the hard-cover.

Happy Nominating! :D

**And remember, based on our new point system, nominating books will get you points! Yay!

Temptation (Temptation, #1) by Karen Ann Hopkins

Synopsis: Your heart misleads you.
That's what my friends and family say.

But I love Noah.
And he loves me.

We met and fell in love in the sleepy farming community of Meadowview, while we rode our horses together through the grassy fields and in those moments in each other's arms.

It should be

ROSE & NOAH

forever, easy.

But it won't be.

Because he's Amish.
And I'm not.

You don't have to participate in the Group Read - it's entirely up to you, but if you read the book along with us or have already read it, we would love to hear your comments, questions, thoughts, etc. That's what makes the Group Read fun! Please keep from posting too many spoilers early in the month, though, as people might still be reading it. If you feel that you might "spoil" a part of the book by commenting, be sure to put something like "***Spoiler Alert***" or something to let others know to read at their own risk! And make sure to have fun!
95766 Please join us this month in reading our Paranormal Group Read, Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor!

Daughter of Smoke & Bone (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor

Synopsis: Around the world, black handprints are appearing on doorways, scorched there by winged strangers who have crept through a slit in the sky.

And in the tangled lanes of Prague, a young art student is about to be caught up in a brutal otherwordly war.

Meet Karou. She fills her sketchbooks with monsters that may or may not be real, she’s prone to disappearing on mysterious "errands", she speaks many languages - not all of them human - and her bright blue hair actually grows out of her head that color. Who is she? That is the question that haunts her, and she’s about to find out.

When beautiful, haunted Akiva fixes fiery eyes on her in an alley in Marrakesh, the result is blood and starlight, secrets unveiled, and a star-crossed love whose roots drink deep of a violent past. But will Karou live to regret learning the truth about herself?

Well, that's four you hadn't read before then. I think that's a success, too. ^.^

95766 Well, if that's the case then you two can just decide together what you want the BotM to be. No biggie. :)

Feb 25, 2014 04:52AM

95766 In order to create more activity for our group, we're now going to use a points system to determine who will get to choose the Book of the Month (rather than choosing the winner by the contest we're currently having, such as You Pick, I Pick.) It's going to be fun and will round out the chances of everyone winning. =)

Here's the list of points that can be won each month:

* Reading a Book of the Month: 5 Points

* Discussing a Book of the Month: 5 Points (Must be a detailed discussion, more than "I like this book" and you must have more than three comments in the thread)

* Writing a Review

For a Book of the Month: 5 Points
For any other book: 3 Points (Must be at least a paragraph and something more than "I liked/disliked the book.)

* Participating in a Buddy Read: 5 Points

* Participating in a Group Contest (Such as You Pick, I Pick): 5 Points

* Participating in Read-A-Thon (When available): 5 Points

* Participating in Writing Challenge (When available): 5 Points

* Reading a Book from the Banner Challenge (must have been read during the current month): 3 Points

* Reading a book that will contribute to a current Reading Challenge (such as Name, Flower, EBook Challenges): 3 Points

* Participating in a Reading War: 1 Point (limit 10 points in one month)

* Nominating Books of the Month: 1 Point each

* Participating in Author Q & As (when available): 5 Points

If you have any questions, feel free to post here and I or another mod will answer them for you. Also, if you can think of something else point-worthy to add to the list, speak up! We just might add it.

Hopefully this will add a little spice and fun to the group. =)
