I've just had a shift round of the books and we are now FULL for the main. Lots of spaces for the mini, especially the Q W & X round!!
Hi team.Sorry I have been quiet, I had annual leave for a week and now I think I've caught a bug. I've got zero reading done since last weekend but I will catch up with all I have sat waiting to complete on the SS.
We can earn a lot of extra points if we come across Q, X or W in title, character, author etc so keep your eyes peeled on your current reads!Books cant be finished until 15th to count for mini challenge so try hold off any until then if you think they could work for any of the above tasks.
I will have a shift around on books already on the spreadsheet that havent been completed tomorrow!!
This is a really fun mini with a lot of points up for grabs if we work our books well!
Perky House Decorating! March Mini ChallengeThis is an optional mini challenge for our UNO players. You've built the house of your dreams, now it is time to decorate it!!
◈ You can mix and match from the below task options, whatever you choose is a maximum of 45 tasks (i.e. books read).
◈ You must choose a minimum of 10 tasks from each of the four categories. This means that if doing the maximum 45 tasks you would have 10 from each category and then 5 of your choice. If doing less than the maximum, for example, you only do 27 tasks, then you would need to have 10 each from 2 categories and 7 from another.
◈ Each book read can only be used for one task.
◈ If you complete all your decorations (45 tasks), your team will receive 30 bonus points.
1. Paint the walls
◈ Read books with one of the below colours as the:
>Cover of the book ; 15 points each ; or
>Colour of text on cover ; 10 points each; or
>Colour word found in text ; 5 points each.
Colours to choose from:
Orange
Purple
Pink
Black
White
Brown
Grey
2. Hang some paintings - 15 points each
◈ Read books where the cover could be a classical painting (no need to get mod approval, but if you need inspiration on what is classical, here is a good guide: https://www.toperfect.com/Classical-P...).
◈ Read books where the cover could be a Fantasy painting (as above, no approval required, but this is a good guide: https://www.toperfect.com/Fantasy-Pai...)
3. Showcase your fancy travel souvenirs - 10 points each
◈ Read books set in any real country except Canada, USA, England, Australia and New Zealand.
(to be clear, absolutely no part of the book can be set in these 5 countries, and the setting must be a country on planet Earth and not a fictional/fantasy country)
4. Swap some flower cuttings with your neighbour - double the card points value (for example, 40 points instead of the 20 points for a 0-9 card, or 60 points instead of 30 for a 0-9 coloured card)
◈ Use any 6 card in your March hands for X instead of S
◈ Use any 2 card in your March hands for W instead of T
◈ Use any SKIP card in your March hands for Q instead of K or P
◈ Books can be started at any point since the start of the UNO challenge (Feb 1)
◈ Books need to be finished after the start of this mini challenge on March 15, 9am UTC. Countdown is here: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
and before April 1 at 9am UTC (When the April month of UNO begins)
◈ Books used for categories 1-3 of this mini challenge do not need to be separate books for what you are claiming for your UNO hands
◈ The usual book length rules apply
◈ Team spreadsheets will be updated with a mini challenge tab so that you can track your books and claim your points
Are you ready to decorate?

Although I havent finished anything yet I have started pretty much all my months reads!! I dont know why I cant just start and finish one, but its certainly keeping me on my toes!!
I've reported it also, hopefully it will get removed soon.I'm sure I don't need to tell you all, but please don't click the link!!!

Good work :D
Good job everyone!!Remember, try not to finish any books until tomorrow, as we wont be able to use them!
I'm finished with my books, if anyone's struggling to finish let me know and ill find something that fits and read it on Sunday.

@ captains: In addition, a library hold got in yesterday and it would fit the Wild card in hand 1...."
The wild works a little differently, and its a lot more helpful. Basically you can put your book into wild if it fits any of the cards in that hand.
so hand 1 for eg, put in the wild slot a book if it fits any of the other cards (skip, 7,4,3,9 or WD4)
so if you say your book is a 7, put it in wild, and say the reason is that its a 7 and Author First name.
so what youve done in hand 5 is perfect for a Draw 2 card, but not the wild
hope makes sense
I’m saying yellow enough! I finished living dead last night, I’ll update the spreadsheet when I get to work in an hour
