Do we need to calculate the scrabble points for letters as well as the bonus for words? (in the manual captain square, I mean) 'cos I can't see where all our books read for scrabble are being tallied :(

looking at partial words:
In NEWTS we could move Edge of Power from W to E and use my Inspector Hobbes for the W (author), and then use Shaw's Private India for the N or S

We could change BROKE to POKER (there is an unused P in the letters, so it wouldn't impact on any other word) and put Grief in (P author)

finished Grief Is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter. works for mini, but no named characters ("Dad", "Boys", "Crow") so only G, M, P.

starting Inspector Hobbes and the Blood by Wilkie Martin

I've not been doing much here: Saturday housework, some TV, some reading, though a bit desultory reading. More of the same tomorrow, though I hope to get more reading done that I managed today.

I've got Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race and We Who Are About To... on the go. I've not worked out what I'll read after them, but will try for some quick ones to meet our scrabble needs :)

Hidden Figures has been slotted in for a scavenger name in part 3, but we can use We Who Are About To for the R (author) or N (Nathalie char)

and Emma's reading a part 3 book (I think), so we could switch your In Death to part 1

I might read a Neil Gaiman after Hidden Figures

I've just read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two, which works for the mini: either part 1 (co)author JK Rowling or part 3 - find name Harry / Ron / Hermione / Albus / Draco / Minerva etc etc or, of course, spell out.

and I take it we are super sure that we can use your two Shopaholic books in parts 1 & 2 of the mini challenge? I'd hate to fail on that!

on the mini, we've still not used Stardust! Sarah finished it on 18 March, but didn't fully report it (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) It's on her UNO shelf, so I think we can use it, surely? And, even better, the GR metadata says there's a Victoria character....
plus it works for the mini challenge - Yvaine character.

Yeah, everyone I know is ok, and most of them doing the stiff upper lip work through it thing.

Utterly horrible. I particularly hated the twits who immediately assumed Islamic extremist links, without any sort of basis whatsoever.

Though, in all honesty, we've expected another incident for ages.
