Psst! Please remember not to use chat and text short hand. There are a few of us (like me) who don't always understand them. Thanks!:)

8575 O.K., I finished re-reading this last night and I am not sure how I feel about it now. When I read this as a teenager, on my own first, then for school, I liked it much better. Now, I found Holden's swearing to a be a bit much, and him to be a bit self centered. I realize that this book was first published in 1945, so this was much more scandalous then, than now perhaps.

I know that some of you are reading this for the first time, so I would like to know your first impressions.

8575 I know that most of you will just be getting started reading this book, as I am. I just wanted to put a place marker here so that when we are ready, we will have a place to discuss this book. I did realize something recently about the books we have read so far, and that is to my knowledge, all of the books we have picked, have all been banned.

Food for thought.

8575 Thank you. You don't know what it means to me to have people in my life who not only support me, but who also understand what I am going through. Next week will be the firt work outs......eeep!

8575 Well, I went for my evaluation yesterday, and I was very humilliated. Now, I would like to note that the staff handled this well. I held it together until I got home, and I did mangage NOT to stress eat over it. It was a small group, I'd say less than 15 or so, and we were told about the programs we may partake in, what fees, if any, applied and what is expected of us in the next 3 months.

It is required to work out a minimum of 3 days/week, but there is no time limit minimum or otherwise that each workout must last, we must weigh our selves 1x's/week and fill out a sheet. 1x's a month, they will re-asses us.

Here comes the humilliating part. I have no delusions about my size. The scales at the doctors office do not register anything above 350 lbs. So does the scale at the Y. We were weighed in front of everybody. No numbers were mentioned aloud or anything, but there I am, standing in front of all these people, and I can't get on the scale because I am too big for it, and everyone knew why. Then, we had to have our hips and waist measured(which will be used once a month to track progress)in seperate room. Her measuring tape almost wasn't long enought to go around me.

I know that some would say, "Well, does this tell you anything?" Again, I have no delusions of my size. I live with it every day. I have to deal with seats that are too small, turnstiles I can't or have trouble fitting through, too samll bathroom stalls, and other things most people take for granted as being the "right size". This is not a set back, and I fully intend to go through with this. I hope that by the end of these 3 months, I will be able to get on that scale and have it work.

8575 We have decided that with Yumi's personality, that we are not going to introduce any new mice to the cage. She tries to bully Willow, but Willow is older, the same size, and will not put up with it. If Yumi preceedes Willow, we will most definately get new mice to live with Willow, as she is very calm and mellow.

8575 As a side note to cell phones in movie theaters, I read a samll article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer on 3/15/10 that says it all. Apparently a person ( no gender given) in L.A. asked a woman to stop talking on her cell phone at a movie. One of the womans 2 male companinions responded by stabbing the requester in the neck with a meat thermometer.

Read that over one more time.....

I want to know why this person was carrying a meat thermometer, did they want to know when the turkey thay were watching was done?

8575 Today, I am devastated. 2 weeks ago, we lost Tara, one of the mice we got after Buffy passed. 3/8 marked my birthday, and I decided that I was going to become a true pet parent, and purchase my first pet all on my own. I got Jasmine on 3/13. She was a tiny cotton ball with ears, and a sweet disposition. We put her in with Yumi and Willow last night after cleaning the cage, and Yumi bulllied her a little.

I was thrilled because Jasmine let me hold and pet her last night, which was suprising for a new mouse and one so young.

As of this afternoon, she's gone. Not a mark on her, so we don't think one of the others got in a fight with her.

I am devestated.

8575 O.K. dinner last night was good! I had chicken picatta and my mom and grandma had duck. Narzain had yellow fin tuna steak and each dinner had it's own unique side dish. The duck came with wild rice and a veggie medley, mine with twice baked potato and veggies and Narzain had rice pilaf and veggies. All the meals came with a nice tossed salad and the whole table shared a lovely relish tray and cottage cheese (of which I am the only one who eats that, and it was yummy!) and french bread that they top with parmesan cheese!

For desert, my mom had a raspberry sundae, grandma had butterscotch, Narzain had a warm chocolate lava cake, and I had a creme de minthe parfait, made with the liquor. It was divine!

8575 It was an Oreo cake. It was chocolate cake, then a layer of chocolate cream, cake, vanilla cream, cake, chocolate cream, cake, vanilla cream cake and frosted in fudge frosting with a dollop of chocolat moose with an oreo cookie decoration.

It make a very good breakfast the next day.

8575 Yes, it is the same here about the mail not being on Sunday. My wonderful boyfriend took me out last Saturday for my birthday to a great barbeque joint that I love and is owned and run by a former Cleveland Browns player, Al "Bubba" Baker. He cooks and does come out to see patrons. They make the BEST mac and cheese I've ever had in a restaurant, and the food! Whoo! I got the fried chicken, and you can get either 1/2 a chicken or a whole chicken. They aren't kidding. I got a 1/2 and it was a leg, thigh, wing and breast. Since I prefer white meat, I planned on taking home the thigh and the leg for somebody to have later.

I ended up taking home the wing too, as I had a Dolly Parton chicken. It was huge! I mean ALL the pieces were huge. The thigh went into it's own container it was so big!

We were even treated to a slice of cake by our server who was appologizing for the wait we had while waiting for the bill, the slice of cake filled a standard styrofoam take-out box!

I don't think that will be the case tomorrow, but you never know....

8575 Thanks, DJ. I had a pretty good day, execept I didn't get any cards in the mail from my family or anybody. 2 arrived yesterday. I guess with my b-day on a Monday, people guessed wrong on when to send them.

8575 Thanks Joy. It went well for the most part. I got to have free coffee at Caribou because I get emails from them, my local Hallmark store offered me a free gift and a 20% discount good for yesterday only, Speedway Rewards sent me a bonus coupon for 200 points that I just need to have scanned by the cashier, and Baskin Robbins sent me a coupon for free ice-cream because I'm in their birthday club! Whew!

My mom and grandma took me out for dinner last night and my best friend Connie (who has a birthday 3/10) and I will be going out to celebrate our birthdays of Friday. Then on Saturday, mom, grandma, my boyfriend (Hi Narain!) and I will go out for my official dinner at my restaurant of choice. Sometime soon, I will have my dinner at home of choice.

I should explain a little. Im my family, we don't make a big deal about much, but we do about birthdays. You get to pick an at home meal of choice and a restaurant of choice too.

(In my family, if you don't get at least 3 birthday celebrations, you're not trying.)
