8565 Got it Sherri.

8565 Oh man, I hate when that happens. With me it is often something that really doesn't matter to the story, either. It just seems to open a door.

8565 True, Dee. He said it better than I could. I really enjoy seeing an author put my feelings into words. They often say it better than I could. It sort of validates them, too, sometimes.

8565 I have felt that exact same way myself, many times, Dee.

Isn't it great when things work out that way!

Ya, I have a shelf titles "to-read'mine" that is an exclusive shelf. In fact, if you look at my "to-read" or "want-to-read" (the garden variety) it has no books on it as I don't use that shelf at all. I think I have about 10 exclusive shelves, lol. Overkill, right? But I do have all of the books I own that are unread on one shelf. Not sure what would be good.....maybe have a mine shelf and then an upcoming reads shelf or something. I tell you, I drive myself crazy with this stuff, lol.

8565 Good going, Susan. I am rethinking this challenge. I think I need to change which list I am reading off of as the books that are on the list are not grabbing my interest at all. I would just delete them, but they are all ones that I own and this is how I keep track of what I own. Dang!

Eon: Dragoneye Reborn by Alison Goodman. I liked it ok but didn't feel there was a strong GLBT plot..."

That is the way that mine was. It is a murder mystery, but three of the characters are gay, one of them just figuring it out, so that was why it was shelved as such.

8565 Great quotes, Susan. I really like Gore Vidal's writing, but haven't read anything by hime for a while.

But those are a good couple of books, Sophia. I recommend People of the Book really highly. It is one of my favorite books.

8565 One last quote from Still Life

Page 263:

""Philippe, I'm not angry about what you did. I never have been. I was just hurt and confused. But not angry at you. I love you. Can you talk to me? Whatever it is, you can tell me.'
Matthew looked at his son and for the first time in almost a year he saw his sensitive, thoughtful, kind boy. Philippe looked at his father and longed to tell him. And he almost did. Almost. He stood at the cliff, his toes over the edge, and he looked into oblivion. His father was asking him to step over and trust that it would be all right. He would catch him, wouldn't let him fall. And to give Philippe credit, he considered it. Philippe yearned to close his eyes, take that step and fall into his father's arms.
But in the end he couldn't. Instead he turned his fact to the wall, put on his headphones back on, and retreated."

8565 Last night I finished Still Life by Louise Penny. This book was good on a couple of levels; 1. It is a mystery in the style of Agatha Christie, which I love. 2. It had some pretty positive "life" messages in it. I ended up giving it 4 stars as it was probably around 3.75

I am doing the same thing. One for review, one from a tower, one for a challenge, one group read. I love your "read, enjoy, repeat".

I think people are waiting to see how it goes, but 3 does not seem conservative to me, lol. I must be a slow reader.

8565 There is no theme for the first one. Just pick books for each other.

Good job Bea. That is it in a nutshell. You have it!

And if your team all finishes their first book the fastest, you get to pick a theme for part of the next cycle.
