8565 I will answer the last question first...no. I have only traveled outside of the US to Canada and Bermuda in real life, although I would really have enjoyed exploring other countries. Just never had the monies to do it.

Now, as to what I will read...from the first 3 pages of the Asia shelf:
The Lotus Eaters - old challenge
A River in Darkness: One Man's Escape from North Korea - Kindle
The Valley of Amazement - old challenge
The Namesake - current challenge
The Orphan Master's Son - old challenge

8565 In South Carolina, we have already had a couple of heat wave weeks with temps in high 90's and low 100's this summer with high humidity. I do yard work in early morning or late evening. Otherwise, it is a stay inside reading or watching Netflix kind of day!

8565 This part of our game will focus on both the LOST books (the oldest on the TBR) and the FOUND books (the newest on the TBR).

1. For this game, you will read 10 books.

2. Three (3) must be your oldest or LOST books. Use conditions 1 & 3 for this task.

3. Three (3) must be your newest books since finishing LOST 2019, that is your FOUND books. Use conditions 2 & 4 for this one.

4. For the other four (4), you may choose any of the listed conditions.

Conditions for choosing books:
1. From one author read for LOST: read another book of that author that was either published and/or added to your TBR at a later date.
2. From one author read for FOUND: read another book of that author that was either published and/or added to your TBR at an earlier date.
3. a LOST book (ie. Longest on Shelf TBR).
4. a FOUND book (ie. added to your TBR in the past 6 months & was published prior to date you completed LOST).

Happy Reading!

8565 I read The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

Rating: *****

I really reacted with this book. It left me thoughtful, sad, amazed, and dismayed. Obviously, I went through a lot of emotions listening to this book.

The life it described and the feelings and thoughts of the characters are very much outside my experience. Here is the life I have heard portrayed on the news from the slant of others outside of the experience.

I am confronted with my own ill-formed opinions and ideas. I am challenged to see life from another perspective and to appreciate its truth, so different from my own.

I am grateful for this book.

Sassafrass, the idea was Tien's. She allowed me some fine tuning and implementation. But, Tien is the challenge/game idea producer around here!
