8565 Questions:

1. I drew Yellow Reverse after drawing Yellow 4. What do I do since the color was the same?

2. Red Draw Two...what does that mean? I get Draw Two means two books but what is the year?

3. Do skips have a year?

For questions 2 & 3...if no particular year, then just the color is important?

8565 So the 2022 MM game...I decided to plan the first 12 and ended up picking one card twice, which I thought was an OK percentage. Then I tried to source the books I chose and ended up having to re-draw for 2 more books because the library did not have the right covers...and then one of those wasn't available so another draw needed. Took me over 2 hours just to plan 12!

LOST 2022 (141 new)
Nov 30, 2021 06:17AM

8565 It is time to start planning for next year!

This game runs from January 1- December 31, 2022.

The object is to make a list of 10 books that have been on your TBR list the longest and get them finally read.

You are allowed to DNF any book that you list after giving it a try.

This game is part 1 of 3. The other parts will be announced when people start finishing their LOST list as they are based on the date LOST was finished. However, you are not required to participate in parts 2 & 3, which are just incentives for not letting the LOST books linger.

Good reading, everyone.

8565 Starting 3 for FOUND:
Chosen by a Horse: A Memoir
Brownies and Broomsticks
One Good Dog
Nemesis: A Miss Marple Mystery

Also starting for July Book It: Toxin. This will finish July's plan.

Good luck Bea!"

So did I, Lusie...only 4 books a month! However, I have also been working to complete old games in two groups. I have only 1 book left for an old game, so then I will focus on this one.

8565 This game might be a carryover game for me. I still have 5 months (12 books) to go to finish. Will aim at completing July, September, and October for sure (4 books).

8565 I was thinking about this book as I ran errands yesterday. I think the story of Barney and his adventures could have been eliminated and maybe just become an explanatory sentence or two when the Kingsbridge story required it. That would knock out some of the Spain, most of the sailing and a bit of the Holland parts. It might have made the book less rambling and tighter. And, I am not sure those parts helped as much as the author thinks.

8565 Finished: A Column of Fire for Buddy Read
Nov 26, 2021 06:15AM

8565 Finished! A satisfying end.
Nov 26, 2021 02:13AM

8565 I read River Marked by Patricia Briggs. 4*

I really enjoy this series. This story involved the fae, the intersection of two worlds ~ death and life, and Indian mythology. It is the honeymoon of Mercy Thompson and the Alpha werewolf Adam.

Although this book itself was not on the list, the series was...and 300 users labelled it fae.

I read this book for the monthly shelf.

I nominate Sci-Fi Fantasy.

8565 I didn't get as much read yesterday as I expected, although I am expecting to finish today. I am glad that I read it and can put finish to that Trilogy. But, it was not the best of his books, by far.

8565 Ch. 28 - Alison is back! Just started...and she has appeared to speak with Jean Anglais (Rollo), when he went to Scotland hoping to speak with the Queen, a recent Catholic convert.

8565 I've reached Ch. 28.

LOL

I knew it was botched but still, reading it was euugh!
I wonder what will happen to Alison now... probably not pertinent to the story but I am a bit curious."

It was gruesome, wasn't it? I wonder if that was a measure of how reluctant many of the people were for her execution to occur?

Alison gave up her own life to serve Mary. It is a love that I, who have struggled so to be my own person, do not really understand. However, I imagine that she was lost for a time...not really knowing what she should do...although she has thought about it while riding by herself.

I suspect that Mr. Follett will drop her as a character. Heaven knows that he has plenty to keep track of in the other stories!

I plan to get to Ch. 28 today. The end is in sight!
8565 Lusie wrote: "Bea wrote: "Mexican Gothic- I've been avoiding this book."

I read it and didn't like it. The writing and athmosphere are good, but the story was too weird for me."

I added it because I had intended to read it for another group but then never did. I did follow that group's comments on the book and most convinced me that I did not want to read it. However, it keeps coming up on recommends and lists, so I have not removed it from my TBR yet. Either I will read it in the future or delete it...and I am just not sure which I prefer at this time. Maybe in 10 years or so it will make it to my LOST list and I will decide then! LOL.
