I’m not a fan comparisons in a synopsis. ‘In the vein of Tolkien...’ ‘in the tradition of Conan...’ ‘for fans of Game of Thrones...’.

We’re a pretty easy going lot. I don’t think anyone would criticize you for reading something not strictly S&S.

Pretty awesome trilogy. Enjoyed all three. I read somewhere the author plans to write more set in the same world.

I just finished these first three books, and boy, after that ending I'm reeling. Excited to start book four.

The Amra Thetys series by Michael Mcclung boasts a history of wizard armies and unrivaled magic. Although Amra only has to deal with the remnants and revenants.

Glory Road

Just finished. Supports a worthy cause. Many well known authors and just as many not so known authors. Worth a look.

Terry Brooks never gets any better. It become repetitive, and written by the same formula every single time afterward. My only favorites from the whole saga were the Heritage of Shannara series, and it was written as a four book series. Everything after was a trilogy. First King of Shannara was another I enjoyed. It's a prequel the Sword but only one character carries over into Sword.

I haven't read all the books I have listed. The Islander by John Maddox Roberts was enjoyable. The Sunset Warrior series was good too. So was Ice Prophet. But everyone has different tastes.

I really look forward to it.

Just finished Heroic Fantasy, and it was hands down my favorite anthology! In retrospect, the table of contents really shows what kind of talent DAW books had in their stable back in it's heyday. Donald Wollheim did a lot for this type of fiction.
