80482 Of course none of the ones I mentioned are strictly S&S

80482 Richard Lee Byers has his novella Arrival. I believe it’s called the Taint?

80482 Barbara Hambly has her Darwath series. There isn’t a plague, but the humans have to hunker down and hide after dark.

80482 The Acts of Caine series was grimdark before the term was coined.

80482 Blade of Tyshalle by Matthew Stover is the only one that comes to my mind. His entire Caine series is awesome.

80482 I believe bated is correct. But Uncle Google and Wikipedia say both ways are correct.

I've recently seen a lot of folks praising Tim Powers lately so I found this audio book from the library. Slow to grab my attention but it's shaping up nicely.

80482 Not really sure where the plow horse comes into it. The character was a ferryman not a farmer. *shrugs*

I don't think this book was ever reprinted or republished either.

80482 Heroic Fantasy by Gerald W. Page

I forgot to mention this when I was reading it, but on page 217 and 218 this happened.

Bottom of page 217
"Dunsan shoved the sword back into its scabbard, slamming for the plow horse he did not have, he found his sword."

Top of page 218
"against the scabbard lip. Wrapping it back in its cloth, he put the sword back into the chest and closed the lid."

What the heck is going on here?!?

80482 I can’t wait for my copy of Twilight of the Gods to arrive!

I only wish I could get Scott Oden to sign it and the others I have written by him.

80482 The Best of Heroic Fantasy Quarterly: Volume 1, 2009-2011 was a good read. I'm really glad Christian brought it up earlier in the feed or otherwise I wouldn't have known about it. Solid collection. Shattering of the Spear by P. Djeli Clark was perhaps my favorite. It was a Sword and Soul similar to Imaro.

Onward to StoryHack Action & Adventure, Issue Five which has a story by our very own Stan Wagenaar.
