I thought it odd that the backstory about the empire and the rise of an empress is only written in the synopsis blurb. I don’t remember reading much about it anywhere else within the book.

Steve Dilks has been busy! His name keeps turning up lately. Can’t wait to read this!

As a little kid I couldn’t get enough He-man. Had it on VHS, had the toys, had the hair cut...But the movie that did it was Beastmaster. Parents had it on Betamax. Other movies like Krull, Legend, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, not necessarily S&S, fueled a love of the fantastic.

@Mark
Dark Oak sounds interesting.

I grew up being told that it was impolite and/or rude to speak of two things in public: religion and politics.
It’s too easy to be drawn into such discussions b/c we all have opinions that we ‘know’ to be right and rational; at least to ourselves.
But what we have to remember is that with so many different walks of life we have to exercise tolerance with grace and understanding.
I don’t welcome editors and/or authors using this medium for their soapbox. I’ve read both FS6 and AppN and both works did not merit the injection of politics in either.
I read this type of fiction for enjoyment and as an escape. I don’t welcome reality or opinions creeping in.

To me the worst part of the book was the afterword by Ann Vandermeer. The sexual orientation and identity she questions has no place in these old stories.

Ray Simmons wrote a nice blog post over @ DMR about the Appendix N anthology. I’ve never played D&D so quite a bit of it was eye opening.

Randy thank you for continuing this awesome list every week. I’ve added so many books because of it.

Yes sir! That was me. Thank you.
It's exciting what DMR Books is doing and I'm very happy to participate.

Jeffro Johnson doesn't have exclusive rights to 'Appendix N'. So why is he so miffed?

It's a terrible shame to give this book a negative review because you are upset that it didn't adhere strictly to Appendix N. Some people did just that on Amazon.
I don't get it.
