Hello Annette and Ebster. Welcome!!
Beth wrote: "To clarify...the email topic lists the thread name but not the book name....at least in gmail."To be honest, I have no idea what you are talking about. I have most notifications turned off for goodreads. My updates are bare-bones, because if I don't have time to check it, I don't have time to delete it from my email account. I am guessing that you only get the responses out of context, but I have no idea how things are displayed for you. The notifications I get usually have the thread included, but there could be other settings... I don't know.

I stopped reading the reviews after a quick glance through. At least I have friends, though.
The other day I was looking for something to send me to sleep on Netflix, just enough to drown out my neighbors. I ended up watching a recommended show called "North and South" without thinking. At no point did the summary say that it was an adaptation. It only registered when I was going to look at the book for next month and reading the summary that it is based off of Elizabeth Gaskell's work. They put spoilers in my head without me knowing, and now part of the book has been ruined for me. Is it that difficult to put a based on the novel blurb on the bottom? This is always bothersome to me. It is incredibly annoying when songs don't credit samples that they use, or when quotes are used out of context and unquoted.
Does it bother anyone else when due credit is not given to previous works?

Hi John.

Unfortunately this relies on people being honest about when they are lying, so no one knows the truth.
Congrats for your honesty. :)

Hello Jane. I have never heard of any of those authors.
Cue research!!
You're a bad influence already.

Shhhhh.
So did I.
For those of you who have read it already...Our metaphorical grading system divides your review into amazing books that you would prefer to keep in your home on a bookshelf, okay books that you would have for the library, and not-so-pleasing picks that would be in your donation box. If you don't like it, don't use it, but you should post your opinion anyway.
