That's alright, I poke around groups for a while before I consider actually participating sometimes.

This year I have only finished one recently, which was "The Tale of Benjamin Button," but I have a few waiting for me to work on by the end. There is usually quite the literary cocktail in my currently reading scheme, as I have a tendency to start five books and read them as my mood suits me, unless something needs to be read right away for review. From my judgement, he appears to be a writer made for the short story form.

78394 Quite frequently in my literary excursions come across a particularly memorable sentence or paragraph. Unfortunately for me, in this book it started right at the beginning, reminding me of my current existential crisis.

"Not old. Not young. But a viable die-able age."
A rather broad topic that I've had rumbling around my mind quite frequently neatly summed up into a compact, nine-word package.

Anyone else have a remarkably beautiful or personally resonating quote that the'd like to share from this month's read?

May the un-sugared slowly take over the world!!! I must say, in my quest to read more short stories this year, I have consumed more F Scott Fitzgerald than egver before in life.

Yes, I'd like to think I'd have second thoughts if I found a woman trapped in a building by a boyfriend.

78394 Depending on the volume, perhaps I would.

Hello Jaime! I'm so jealous of your literary flexibility. My wishlists are out of control! Your random selection sounds very refreshing.

Gah. I want to read it so badly, I just need a time machine for a year or two, I seriously, that's all. The conclusion of "Jane Eyre seemed so off to me when I first read it, and I've often thought that some parts of it just do not make that much sense, even given the cultural differences.

The thing is, most fables that we tell kids are meant as warnings anyway, even the cleaner fairy tales were by no means as fluffy as they are expected to be now. It's relatively modern for us to sell children love stories. Granted, it can be said that there is a moral to "Frozen" and "Superman" but it's generally not as important.

78394 Like anything else, it depends on how good the book is, if it is good enough to be worth it or is it a waste of paper. Although, I spent the majority of my teenage years on fanfiction websites, so I am probably more open to it than most readers.
"Wide Sargasso Sea" has been on my to-read list for ages, but I have not gotten to it. Having received so many good reviews and being on so many lists, I really should. That's the number one spin-off type book that comes to mind for me.

78394 Hello and welcome. To start up some beginning conversations please provide answers to three of the following questions. And your Social Security number and bank information. ...This is a joke. I'm kidding, just in case.

What is your name or nickname?
What is your favorite beverage?
Who is your most read author?
Cake, cookie or pie?
Where are you from?
78394 The virtual home of our reviews of "The God of Small Things."
Our reviewing system is divided between three categories: a donation box, a library bag, and a bookshelf. The donation box is for things that you didn't particularly enjoy, don't intend to touch again, or perhaps didn't even finish. Books that you love and want to read over and over are for your bookshelf. The library bag basically covers everywhere in between. You don't have to follow this system, but it is a bit of fun.
