770270 I believe Jericho is still there. But I presume you mean something more recent ....

Ah! Could it be Prez Trump and his proposed wall to keep the Mexicans out?

770270 Like at Jericho? The important thing is to draw the boundary in the right place.

All boundaries must run somewhere. Libraries and other buildings should be sited on either one side or the other.

Ha ha! Certainly Macron has suffered, but he is so young he was not even born when we joined. I however remember every one of the 47 years.

I think not! We now have to recover from 47 years of EU trauma ....

770270 UK cut the final ties with the EU at 11pm last night. This may affect members from outside UK/EU who still wish to visit.

770270 Merry Boxing Day dear Mod in Chief. But hold on about the poem, there is a copyright issue: I do not know who wrote it, but it was not me.

770270 A festive poem from Gary, my plumber ....

I Remember A December

I remember a December,
Once when I was young,
The year was 2020,
My life had just begun.

We spent days in our PJs,
Stole Mum and Dad’s bed,
We missed days off school,
Snuggled at home instead.

They speak of the sadness,
When I ask them now,
What those up in power,
Just couldn’t allow.

But the memories I have,
Of that time long ago,
Are somewhat different,
To the ones that they know.

The week before Christmas,
We spent time inside,
Mum opened the chocolates,
She usually hides.

We watched even more movies,
Than we normally would,
Stayed up late at night,
Because Dad said we could.

We still had a tree,
And Santa still came,
We put logs on the fire,
Felt the warmth of the flame.

We walked round the streets,
When the day turned to night,
Gazing at houses,
Twinkling with light.

We opened our gifts,
On Christmas Day,
Despite Boris saying,
That no-one could stay.

They appeared on our screen,
For a game of charades,
The laughter kept coming,
As we acted out cards.

We weren’t all together,
For cuddles and hugs,
But still had that bond,
That you just couldn’t shrug.

Emotions ran deep,
As we showed that we cared,
Although not in person,
Christmas spirit was shared.

I remember a December,
When Gran and Gramps couldn’t stay,
We did it for them,
So they’re safe here today.

770270 Perhaps. Each person has their favourite pleasures. It seems to me that alcohol was actually his favourite.

770270 I'm dreaming of a virtual Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
When I lived on Arcturus 5.
Where the snow lay thick
On the ground,
Very deep and very crisp,
In some places a mile deep.

I lived there for many years,
Light-years from Earth,
On that cold and desolate world.
But at Christmas time
We read of Scrooge, and the ghosts,
And Tiny Tim.
We watched The Two Ronnoids on the telescreen,
And ate the turkey and wore the paper hats.
For the spirit of Christmas
Was in our hearts.
