LOL Mary! I'd already looked at The Anchoress and decided it wasn't my cup of tea, but I DO want to know the answer to your question!
721 I started reading Mr Wigg last night - enjoying it very much so far.
721 OK, I think I have my list sorted.

1). Title: Read a book that has any of these winter themed words in the title; ‘Snow’, ‘Winter’, ‘Ice’ or ‘Cold’. Either The Snow Kimono if I can get it from the library, or White is the Coldest Colour if I can't.

2). Cover: Read a book that has one of the following winter colours predominately on the cover; Blue, White, Grey or Navy. (show the cover pic) Code Name Verity

3). Set in Winter: Read a novel which has been set in winter. You

The Snow Kimono by Mark Henshaw White is the Coldest Colour by John Nicholl Code Name Verity (Code Name Verity, #1) by Elizabeth Wein You (You #1) by Caroline Kepnes

Monica McInerney has used South Australia (maybe not exactly Adelaide) as a location a few times that I know of. Examples are The Alphabet Sisters and A Taste For It.

721 Now I am ready to reveal:

1. Brother of the More Famous Jack by Barbara Trapido
2. Life After Life by Kate Atkinson
3. A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
4. The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton
5. Dogeaters by Jessica Hagedorn

I see a number of us have nominated Life After Life. I just finished it last night and still have a warm glow. Let me know if you want to discuss - or maybe there is a discussion thread for it??? Lemme check...

Your review convinced me! I'm on the US site, where I got it for US$2.65 or something.

721 I'll wait at least until I finish my current book, as I'm pretty sure it will be going on the list.

Ditto! In fact, I may have even read it sooner, rather than leaving it languishing on my Kindle.

That's settled - I'm picking this book up next! Maybe even today if I can finish what I'm currently reading.

Oh, keep at it! I felt the same when I began reading it, but I persevered and now it is amongst my favourites. Something I found useful was to look at what Jennifer and co had to say about it back in 2011. That clued me in on how the structure worked, and from then on I found it just got better and better. I've been debating whether to re-read Perfume: The Story of a Murderer before next month's show, but I honestly don't think I liked it enough the first time to go back there. Maybe I'll give it a little skim-read (or watch the film!)

721 I've been to the Salvos today, too, and picked up a copy of The Seventh Son by Reay Tannahill, which I've been wanting to read for a while.

I'm starting to think the Salvos is getting too expensive to use as a library, with all paperbacks seeming to be marked at $4.25. I might have to try to restrain myself in future and only pick up things I want to keep or share with friends, and use the actual library for the quick-read-then-send-back books.

Also - I think one of their volunteers must be a bit OCD!! Suddenly the books are somewhat alphabetised. Not the entire range, but each bookcase. Takes a bit of the fun out of browsing.

Watched the encore screening of this yesterday afternoon - very sweet.

721 I'm still on holidays, so have set aside some time to immerse myself in the mini-series of Wolf Hall. Loving it so far. When I heard Mark Rylance was playing Cromwell I was a bit doubtful, but he is superb! The only casting choice that grates a bit is Claire Foy as Anne Boleyn. Also, as a diehard Homeland fan, it's a bit weird seeing Damian Lewis playing King Henry, but he is quite perfect.

721 Kathryn wrote: "I'm watching last night's show - had to laugh and echo Marieke's words when, after Jennifer mentioned the Kardashian selfie book, she said, "Why are we even talking about this??!!" ..."

It was a fun show, and I even remembered to watch it at the normal broadcast time. The 2 main books didn't really tempt me, but I am keen to take a look at The Interestings (Marieke) and Maggie & Me (Alan Cumming).
721 On Sunday I read 110 pages of Letters from Skye, bringing my weekend total to 335.
721 Finished A Handful of Dust for 225 pages.

Need to quickly decide what to get stuck into next.

I noticed that book at Dymocks yesterday - could barely lift it off the shelf! Enjoy.

721 Harper Collins is having a $4.99 ebook promotion for the long weekend. Includes Lone Star by Paullina Simons, Paper Towns by John Green, Bittersweet by Colleen McCullough, American Sniper by Chris Kyle and more. Purchase from your favourite retailer (Amazon, Kobo etc).

I decided I needed to have Lone Star at that price!

721 A question for those who have dual Amazon accounts (US/AU) - can you attach the same device to both accounts? That is, could I set my actual Kindle device as the default device on two separate accounts?

I think I have read previously that each account requires a different email address.

Any advice will be warmly welcomed!
