Maid of Steel by Kate Baker
A good debut that could have been great had it reduced the number of topics. Still, might be interesting to historical fiction readers as it covers plenty of events from 1911-12 Ireland.

The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown
I loved this magical fantasy-thriller so much! Way more than most of my friends did! It's always fun to be an outlier on the positive side. :D

The Color of Sound by Emily Barth Isler
A beautiful middle-grade timeslip story but would work better for readers who know classical music terms.

The Night Ship by Jess Kidd
I truly thought that this was my kind of book, but it was too dark and too abrupt at the end for my liking. :/

The Other Side of Night by Adam Hamdy
Didn't expect to enjoy this book so much! It's not for all, but if you are the right kind of reader, it ought to work well.

The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections by Eva Jurczyk
The disappointment is always greater when a book about books fails to deliver.

Works exactly as expected, which is both good and boring.

Song of Freedom, Song of Dreams by Shari Green
A novel-in-verse set during the 1989 protests in Berlin. I didn't find the poetic elements impressive but the story is good.

The Good Girl by Michelle Dunne
By far, one of the best crime thrillers I have read in ages!

The Women by Kristin Hannah
Expected my first Kristin Hannah book to be a 5 star experience. This is going to count as one of the biggest disappointments of 2024. :(
