I read Boy in the Suitcase a couple of years ago, but was a tad underwhelmed, but I have a rule to read at least 2 books in a series before giving up, so i'll be checking out Invisible Murder

Welcome to 2014!
Naomi, Anna and I sat down and hopefully came up with a good list of authors for us to explore in 2014 and first off is
Lene Kaaberbøl - who writes the Nina Borg series, along with
Agnete FriisThe Boy in the SuitcaseInvisible MurderDeath of a NightingaleLene also writes YA fantasy books

i finally got my butt into gear and picked up
Burned - its a bit slow so far (i'm only about 60 pgs in) - kind of reminds me of Sara Blaedel but with a journalist as the main protag...so far, the murder appears to be an honor killing

i saw that Carin - I still have the old version, but i'm looking forward to reading it ;) its next on the pile, after I wittle down the library ebooks I have to read

i didn't really see anyone pan it per say...just the one liner about not being in love with it - unless there i something i'm not seeing

which one naomi?

She likes dark and twisty :)

blackkit - if you hold off on JAO - he is going to be a featured author next year again

I want to try her other series though, if you like it...and my library has it...just got to figure out where to fit in challenges

I thought you liked The Beast (Roslund/Hellstrom) - you recommended it to me

yeah, Jim's books are yelling at me too...haha

bit behind here, but I just got done listening to
Blind Goddess which was the first in the HW series...it was ok...I wasn't blown away by it, it seemed to be a typical government corruption, drug smuggling storyline...also felt that she tried to push the Hanne being gay a bit too much - I lost how many times it was mentioned...it doesn't bother me, it just felt like overkill

haha! me too!! I have 3 potentials already identified and slotted into the schedule (Enger, Ingolfsson and Jungstedt)

for quick reference - here is the list of authors from 2013:
January -
Peter HøegFebruary -
Karin AlvtegenMarch -
Mari JungstedtApril -
Viktor Arnar IngólfssonMay -
Åsa LarssonJune -
James ThompsonJuly -
Anders Roslund and
Borge HellstromAugust -
Lars KeplerSeptember -
Anne HoltOctober -
Jo NesbøNovember -
Thomas Enger

so I don't know about you guys, but there were always authors I was interested in trying, but time got away from me and I didn't get anything read it a given month...so December is going to be catch-up month.
Its easy...pick any author that we featured this year as author of the month - maybe it is one you didn't get a chance to read, or someone you want to read something else by them and have fun!

Listening to
Blind Goddess - library had it on the new audiobooks for download list - I was underwhelmed with the other book I read by her but it was also book 8 in the series

Well next month is going to be a catch-up month ;)

Art - we don't have a specific favorites list - we have one about intro books to NN - best bet is just to explore the group

Bruce - feel to start a new thread on tartan noir if u want
