When Precious Ramotswe father died she did something that everyone thought was crazy opened the first female Detective agency in Botswana. What I liked about this story is Mma Ramotswe love of her country. She is very proud of being a good African woman and very proud of being from Botswana. She recognise that her country is not perfect but it is improving. It is clear that the author Alexander McCall Smith truely loves the country of Botswana.
Will Tweedy lives in Cold Sassy Georgia in 1906 and his grandfather has just married a woman weeks after his grandmothers death. This woman is also much much younger than Will's grandfather. The entire story is seen through the eyes of Will.
This is the story of 2 generations of an Mandarian Chinesse family during the late 1800s and earky 1900s. What I liked about the book was that it gives a picture into a country that the West has no little about for so long.
I read this book many many years ago right after the miniseries camout on TV. The story is about 2 familes the Hazards in the South and the Mains in the North. Before, during and after the civil war. This is the 1st of 3 books about these families.
