50319 Yeah, that's true. I'm not fast at all. I do leave discussion topics for books up forever though and the book I was planning on us reading would not take long at all.

50319 Yeah, I was thinking that, but I'm actually thinking of starting with the basics. There aren't many in this group who have read more than The Hobbit. Some have just watched the movie so I almost think we should start with The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings before getting into the meat and lore and complicated stuff.

I did think about that though. Maybe I'll put up a poll.

50319 Yeah, me too. I'll broadcast a message when we're gonna start. I want to start at the beginning of June and have the book picked out. Should I create a reading schedule or something?

50319 With the Children of Hurin, he basically pulled all the versions of the story together and filled in the gaps. It's great! You should really read it.

Yeah, I don't know what of Tolkien's works I don't like. I need to read The Silmarillion again.

50319 Yup. We'll have group read, discuss what we should discuss and it will be awesome (I hope).
May 06, 2012 09:31PM

50319 Yup! I'm going to try to kinda improve this group this and next month and make it a true group.

50319 Yeah, I like Aragorn. My least favorite part is Faramir as well. In the book, I think Tolkien was trying to make a point that some men weren't as corruptible and they didn't depict Faramir as that strong character like in the book.

50319 Yeah, I like Beren and Luthien. The Children of Hurin is probably my most favorite story though, but it makes me sob like a baby or something.

Yeah, I should read it again before the movie comes out. I haven't read Lost Tales yet.

50319 What?
Feb 11, 2012 03:51PM

50319 I don't think that's a problem Jessica. That's good for you.
Feb 10, 2012 08:00PM

50319 Oh, haha. I'll read it anyway.
Feb 10, 2012 12:43PM

50319 That's a lot of pages. I only had that kind of patients with The Count of Monte Cristo.
Feb 09, 2012 06:30PM

50319 You've read it too then? You just said your friend read it so I wasn't sure.
Feb 09, 2012 05:22PM

50319 Ok.
Feb 09, 2012 04:17PM

50319 At least you didn't give up. You're awesome just because of that, lol.
