I couldn't really get into this book until near the end of the book. I just felt the characters were flat. I like to know the characters, how they would react in situations, you know? And I didn't feel that way with any of the characters except for maybe Jace.

(view spoiler)[I especially didn't like Clary for a while. I kept thinking, how can she turn her back on Luke, who she's known her whole life, and just trust Hodge and all these people she just met? I guess I've forgiven her though, because I seem to like her now. Maybe because how she handled herself near the end? (hide spoiler)]


Anyway, I read on and oh man. I ended up really liking this book. And I have a feeling now that I know the characters a bit better, I will love continuing to read this series.

(view spoiler)[They're siblings! I feel like I should have seen that coming! Especially with the Star Wars references, but I did not for one second think they were brother and sister. I'm kind of disappointed, but only a little. For the most part I like that twist. Somehow it worked. (hide spoiler)]

We normally read the first book in a series before moving on to the second. So I added the first book in this series to the list instead! Once we read that, the second book can be nominated.

So I'm on page 110 and I'm hooked. There's just a lot going on and a lot we don't know and as with most mysteries, I want to find out what's happening. So I'm hooked. And I already love Jace! More to come as I read more!

I just got this book from the library. I've read about 2 pages. My only thought so far is that it is very YA, which I'm not a huge fan of usually. However, I am always willing to give it a try- so hopefully it'll make a fan out of me. I'll let you all know how I like it when I get a bit further.
