Arachne finished coming up the stairs and cleared her mind. She couldn't have Markos see that. Another wave of post-pain went through her and she hissed and fell to her knees. She took several gasping breaths, gulped, and stood up again, her balance wavering, but she kept walking to the room.

Arachne couldn't even flinch when Suzie lifted her head and wiped away her sweat and tears. "There, there, honey. It's alright."
When she was done, she reached out a hand and Hael set a white, long-sleeved shirt out to her. "Put this on under your black one, sweetheart."
Arachne could barely lift her arms, but she did what Suzie asked, not even caring if the man watched her as she did.
Suzie helped her stand up and wiped away the last tears from her eyes. "It will be okay, honey. The pain will go away."
Arachne closed her eyes to keep from seeing Suzie.
"Now, go and get a good night's sleep." She sent her gently out the door and closed it behind her. Arachne took a deep breath and knew that she couldn't tell Markos anything. She looked down at the long-sleeved shirt and saw that it just cleared past covering the bandages. And it was loose enough that you couldn't tell that she was even wearing them.
She's sure prepared. She thought sadly and looked back up, walking carefully back through the hallway on tentative feet.

Suzie dropped the knife to the floor along with all the scales that she had cut off. She sighed and leaned forwards, licking up some of the most recent blood that had come out of Arachne's wounds. Arachne shuddered and gasped.
"You taste just divine, Natalie. I've never had snake nor spider before." She flicked her head at the man, Hael, and he came over to her as well. His eyes were craving her blood, she could tell, and were bright red. He bent down a little to stroke his tongue up her arm, catching the dripping liquid and whimpered.
"Master...can I have her?"
"Not yet." Suzie said, looking into Arachne's eyes again, smiling a little. "She has to disagree with me before you can." He whimpered a little and Suzie shoved him back. "So...Natalie. What will it be. I'm sure that having Markos and your chilren will be much better than spending a lifetime of regretting the choice you made."
Arachne could feel something inside her curl up and die. "I...I...I will do this thing, but it won't be for you. It will be for me."
Suzie grinned, back to her normal face, her fangs disappearing. "I'm glad we understand." She pressed a button on the wall and all of the cuffs opened at the same time. Arachne dropped to the ground and gasped as her arms caught her fall. "We'll have to give you some help with those." Suzie said in a motherly tone and she came into Arachne's view with a washcloth, wiping the blood off and plucking the loose, broken scales away with a gentle hand, binding her arms up to her elbows with soft bandages.

"Hael, tie her up, will you? This will be a messy job."
Arachne turned her head, frightened, to find the man smiling with those large fangs and his red eyes seemed to flush with excitement. She shuddered and was dragged to chains hidden in one side of the wall and her wrists were forced into the cuffs and locked there with a click, followed by her ankles so she was hanging just above the floor, where her toes could barely brush against the floor if she stretched them, but didn't have the chance to put her whole weight on them. Her whole weight was put on her ankles and wrists and she was already sore.
Suzie came back up to her and she saw that she was now wearing a black tank top and tight, black pants, a whip tucked in a pocket and she flipped the knife over and over in her palm.
"Now, will you do what I ask?" She asked again.
"Never." She hissed and Suzie tsked.
"Your loss." She reached out with the knife and hacked several of her scales off of her arm with the knife. Arachne screamed, the pain rushing through her body. She had never been hurt like this before. She trembled and blood started to drip from the wound.
She turned her head to look at the wound and saw mangled scales on the edges and another scale had been forced through her skin, and she knew that it would take a long time to try to get it back out. The whole scene made her feel like vomiting.
"Will you do what I ask?" Suzie asked again and Arachne turned back to face her.
"I will never do it!"
Another patch of scales came chopped off.

"You want me to...what?" She was appalled, frozen.
"I need you to have more chilren, Natalie." Suzie smiled at her with closed eyes, looking like she had just asked her to have tea with her next week instead of asking her to have more babies.
"I will never have more chilren just because you want me to!" She growled, flashing her fangs.
"Oh, that's very protective of you. But I've calculated the times that you had Zarkt and Peace by what you've told me and I know that you could have several in the next couple months."
"You can't make Markos..." She was numb. "You can't make him do that with me."
"No, but I know that it will happen again eventually. You two have strong connections, body and soul. You will have another one in a month or two, is my guess."
Arachne growled and took several steps forward, but she felt something holding her back. She looked behind her and saw a man with red eyes and sharp fangs grinning at her. She gasped and turned back to look at Suzie, to see that she had left her chair and was standing in front of her, holding a small daggar.
"Now, we can make this easy, or we can make this difficult." She glared and fangs of her own came over her bottom lip. Arachne felt tears come to her eyes, but shook her head.
"I will not do what you ask me to."
"Then it will be the difficult way."

"I just wanted to ask a favor of you." Suzie said, leaning back in her chair and templing her fingers together.
"What?" Arachne could feel the power of this room, moving up her arms like bands. She knew that Suzie Mae was the one in control here.
"You have a darling little baby."
"What do you want with Peace?!" She was furious.
"No, I do not need your baby now. I need you to have more."

Arachne opened the door slowly and saw Suzie sitting on a large armchair, one of the other mutants kneeling in front of her. She smiled down at the child and patted his head. "Go now. I am done with you."
Arachne caught the movement of his putting his wristband back on before he passed her and closed the door behind him.
She looked back up at Suzie and glared. "What do you need me for?"

Zarkt laughed. "Love the sandals, angel. And...I don't know if we should listen in. Some conversations are meant to stay between the ones who have them." His eyes had turned slightly dead.
Arachne came up to the door after several minutes of walking. That took longer than I expected. She raised a hand to knock on the door and heard Suzie say, "Come in, Natalie."

Arachne started down the hallway and remembered something about Suzie saying that her room was on the first floor. She looked around and came to a long, darkened hallway. She hesitated before walking down it, her new tennis shoes scuffling as she walked.

Arachne dried her hair as much as possible and found a brush in one of the drawers and ran it through her hair, wincing at the snags. As soon as she was done, she shoved their old clothes in the garbage, picked up Peace, and moved out of the bathroom.
There was shoes and socks at the doorway. She bent over and picked them up, moving back into the bathroom to put her black tennis shoes and Peace's little brown sandals on her.
Peace kicked her feet a little at the new feeling of wearing shoes and socks and bent over to grab at them, squealing as she squeezed her own toes. Arachne laughed and swung her into the air as she came out of the bathroom again and moved down the hall to their room.

After Peace was dressed, she set her on the floor and she sat up, looking around and bouncing in one spot. Arachne laughed as she opened her own clothes.
There was a black shirt that had a scaley pattern on it that looked almost invisible and a red diamond on the back. She glared at it, but knew that she would wear it. Her other clothes were much too old and small, fraying and holey.
She took off the towel and put on the underthings that had come with her clothes and pulled on the baggy T-shirt.
She opened the pants and sighed, closing her eyes. They were white with a noticable web pattern and had green speckles at the spots where the lines of the webs connected. She pulled it on as well and wondered why Suzie was giving her these strange, noticable, obvious clothes.

Arachne sighed and started putting the clothes on Peace, putting on the diaper on that was under the pants first. Peace cooed up at her when she finished and Arachne smiled softly, tracing her baby's now clean, smooth, soft skin of her cheek.
"Hey sweetheart. Do you like your new clothes? We really needed some new ones, didn't we?"
