4170 Hmm. I somehow lost track of this thread.

Welcome R.

Very belated welcome to Niall..
4170 So I went to look at my review of this. I got a newer audio book version (narrated by Mark Boyett) and it looks to have the story in question.

Here was my take:

"Apart from one story (Way in the Middle of the Air) which made me really uncomfortable and showed it's age. It appears to have been eliminated from several of the more recent editions of this book, and I wish I had skipped it as it really adds very little to this collection"

4170 Its long suffering is over, after going 2-5 in book polls over the year, Tom has decided to pick The Martian Chronicles for our May pick.

I’m a fan of Science Fiction who wants to see good Science Fiction.

It’s not rocket surgery."

I really want to leave this alone..but this statement is so ARROGANT...

It appears to me that what you really want to see is Science Fiction YOU THINK is Good. Who cares if other people enjoy it/think it's good?

If you don't, then it's garbage and how dare they go see and enjoy it, because then Hollywood might make of the kind of Science Fiction you don't want to see.

I like these movies. Call me a fan of garbage. I really don't care, but stop pretending you're doing anything but trashing on stuff you don't like that other people do. You're not going to convince anyone that "oh yeah, Trike's right, I really actually hate this movie. Thanks for pointing it out to me!"

And I'm not trying to pick on Trike specifically, and I don't think he's trying to be a gatekeeper. I think he just really hates JJ Abram stuff and can't help himself about it. I'm just getting tired of it.

Let me enjoy Episode 9. I'm sorry you don't want to see it, but there are plenty of other movies and shows and books out there for you to enjoy, so I don't really feel bad for you...

This is the last I'll say on the matter because I'm really not trying to start a flame war. There are always people on here who say things I don't agree with and always will be.

I just wish people could be a little more considerate of people who like things they don't. I'm not saying don't post saying you don't like a thing or why you don't like a thing..but say your peace and move on. Let the people who do enjoy it keep discussing it..

I'm excited to see how he does at live action, but I'd be fine if they have him direct animated movies too
