40917 Round 11 - Agnieszka picks for Danielle

All were 5 star books for me. I usually try to cut my picks down to four, though didn’t know which one to leave out when I got to five (I started with 10) so I hope you don’t mind a bigger pool to pick from this time.

Vanished (Private Justice, #1) by Irene Hannon Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen A Day Like This by Kelley McNeil A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks The Martian by Andy Weir

Vanished one of my favorite authors - Christian contemporary romantic suspense
Pride and Prejudice one of the rare classics I not only loved but even re-read (more than once) - classic romance with a side of social commentary (warning: each time I read it, I struggled through the first third, got involved in the second and understood why so many people love it in the last)
A Day Like This a revelation and another positive experience for me (only second science fiction book I loved) - contemporary with time issue elements (I know there’s a name for this SF-subgenre, but I can’t remember how it’s called)
A Walk to Remember a longtime favorite - YA drama
The Martian something really fun and my very first science fiction novel I loved :-D - humorous space adventure

Enjoy!

40917 Week 42 - August 16: Row 1 Column 2 Der Dativ ist dem Genitiv sein Tod Neues aus dem Irrgarten der deutschen Sprache (Der Dativ ist dem Genitiv sein Tod, #2) by Bastian Sick Der Dativ ist dem Genitiv sein Tod: Neues aus dem Irrgarten der deutschen Sprache (The Dative is the Genitive its Death*: New from the Maze of German Language) by Bastian Sick - looking forward to revisit Bastian Sick's collection of columns on German language issues in one of the major German magazines (it's so fun and informative at once - I could imagine it's similar for Germans to My Grammar and I... Or Should That Be Me?: How to Speak and Write It Right for English which I mostly don't get but slog through because I'm learning something from time to time anyway)

* literal translation showing an issue of German language (the way it's phrased in original is actually incorrect in German)

Who's claiming such crazy thing - it was just yesterday (OK perhaps a day earlier) but no way it's history of any kind but personal. Even if the Eastern Block and Cold War were still a strong reality that nobody could imagine ever to change.

Thank you for the great picks. :) I think I will start with "The Last Hour"."

I've added it to my TBR after seeing the picks for you and would be very interested in your opinion of this one.

40917 I went to my local WiFi hotspot yesterday, so my partner doesn't have to wait too long and the connection broke down before I was finished *grrrr* Anyway:

ROUND 10 - Agnieszka picks for LittleRedRidingHood

Gut The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ by Giulia Enders Outlander (Outlander, #1) by Diana Gabaldon No Visible Bruises What We Don’t Know About Domestic Violence Can Kill Us by Rachel Louise Snyder Novorojen by Margaret Mazzantini

Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Underrated Organ is the only of your books I read and liked enough to recommend, I'm aware I picked it for you in previous HMD-years, though who knows perhaps it's the year to tackle it *grins*
Outlander your oldest book on this shelf
No Visible Bruises: What We Don’t Know About Domestic Violence Can Kill Us because it's an important topic
Novorojen the highest rated foreign language book on your shelf (that I've not yet picked for you, or read)

Enjoy!

Thank you! I was aware you're on vacation and it wasn't urgent - I'm still very far from finishing the Es *grins*
I give the original book-title book a chance and should it land among the many DNFs I'm producing right now I'll keep the other one as a secondary option (otherwise I still can use this I-title for my Ice Cream spell-out :-D)

40917 Another bunch of questions for this challenge:
1. The book title for E I picked Escape From Danger with Escape From Danger in mind. In the meantime, I’ve read another one whose content can be summarized as more or less successful attempts to Escape From Danger. Can I use that instead or should I stick to my original one?
2. Road Trip, does it have to be theoretically viable for me, something in my area or could I pick any destination worth visiting?
I realized just now I can use something I’d take with me, means of transportation, etc. though would like to get you take on my question anyway as there are some idea I have floating around for future letters I’d like to use but couldn’t otherwise :-D

I think I'll start with The Heart 21 Days to Transform Your Life by Reinhard Hirtler though will finish the other books long before I'll be done with this one. The friend who recommended it, mentioned it's best to work slowly through to get the most out of it.

Rev It Up is the only book from your shelf I read (luckily I enjoyed it)
Tricks for Free is the oldest book on your shelf
The Will of the Many is your highest rated (the I-author is just a bonus)
An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good love the title :-D

40917 Managed to read a few in the last month:

Death of a Modern King (Stormy Day Mystery #4) by Angela Pepper Fireworks, Forensics and Felonies (The New Orleans Go Cup Chronicles Book 7) by Colleen Mooney The Eagle (Spy Girl, #2) by Jillian Dodd
✔ Week 31 - May 31 Row 2 Column 3 Death of a Modern King book 10 in Sassy Sleuths Detective Mysteries: 13 Cozy Mystery Novels by Angela Pepper 4* 6/26/25
✔ Week 32 - June 7 Row 5 Fireworks, Forensics and Felonies by Colleen Mooney 4* 7/4/25
✔ Week 33 - June 14 Row 4 Column 5 The Eagle book 2 in Spy Girl: Books 1-3 by Jillian Dodd 4.5* 6/16/25
All were great fun and I'm looking forward to read the next in series soon-ish. The last one was such a great surprise as I'm usually not a big fan of YA but after reading another one I find the series gets better with each book so far and I hope my expectations won't be crushed at some point. The sad point with the first one, there's only one left in the series, will have to explore other series by that author.
