40148 From your focus books I can speak to three, The Moonstone, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, and Jamaica Inn are all good reading. I enjoyed them all. Your plan for a century of science fiction is a great idea. I have neglected my science fiction reading and have planned several for this year. I hope you have a wonderful year. Happy reading.
40148 Shirley, you have a fantastic Old and New list. Paradise Lost and The Grapes of Wrath were five star reads and I hope to reread them someday. I read The Crystal Cave earlier this year it was my first by Mary Stewart, there will be more. I have read several more from your list, all were enjoyed. Have a good year.

40148 I hoped that The Last of the Mohicans would have won our recent poll, it might have been the nudge I needed. It's been on my shelf way too long. I agree with Lynn, Defoe and du Maurier are worth reading. Have a good year.

40148 I see you are entering the buffet with an empty stomach and a positive attitude. You have some wonderful selections. I will always remember Silas Marner, a real favorite. Your year 1969 has some winners too. The Godfather, I've seen the movie at least a dozen times, the book is much book is much better. Take a look at Sounder and The House on the Strand. Have a great year.

40148 I see you have Ulysses on your list. I have had a copy on my bookshelf for years and scared to death to ever pick it up. I have even considered getting rid of it. This is the year, I may not finish, but I am going to give a fair chance. Enjoy your year.

40148 Dickens seems like a good way to start the year. You have selected some excellent choices.

40148 I nominate The Bridge of San Luis Ray by Thornton Wilder, 131 pages, 1927. It has been tried in both New School and Short Story and has always come up short.
