THIS!! I so agree! And they don't feel like we're being fed ideals, if that makes sense.
38356 That's one of the things that most impressed me about the story. I was pretty unsure about reporters making great heroines because of the nature of their business and always sticking their noses into the hero's business of saving the world.

But Tessa was super smart about knowing when to get involved and when to back off.

Nothing chaps my hide faster than a heroine who's TSTL moments put the hero in danger.
38356 I really love Tessa and Julian. I think they're very different, but they compliment each other so much.

Reading the book the second time made me appreciate the way the slave trade storyline was handled. The first time I read it I was so shocked that I couldn't believe it was real. Over the years, though, getting to know Pamela Clare and knowing how thoroughly she researches the details of her stories, and knowing that some of these stories she actually worked on as a journalist... knowing that this IS real made it a much more gut wrenching read. More somber. More real.
38356 Oh, yeah!! I'm excited for this one!
38356 Check it out! Amazon finally posted the cover for the ebook!

Sure, I'm open to that. You and Pamela can have him on Wednesday nights - cuz I'm all tied up with Jack Cole, literally, those nights - and the rest of the time Julian is with me.
