36119 It is still within the realm of possibility for me to have a MegaFinish -- 11 more for RWS and 7 more for sub-challenge. However, I have 1 finished for RWS that I haven't posted yet because I'm not sure which task to post it for (#10.4 or #20.5), I'm reading 2 right now that I'm over halfway that go to 2 separate tasks (#10.7 and #10.8). That leave 8 for RWS (#10.4 or #20.5, #10.6, #10.9, #10.10, #20.2, #20.4, #20.6, #20.10), 7 for sub-challenge, 15 books in total for 6 weeks. So we'll see. It is still possible, as long as I don't get distracted by books that don't fit the unused tasks :)

I was hoping that David's Story would be the first novel as I just picked it up today at the local library sale. You Can't Get Lost in Cape Town is available on interlibrary loan but it might not get here in time for this challenge.

36119 Bibliography: Zoe Wicomb

You Can't Get Lost in Cape Town (1987) (stories) (a series of connected short stories which are semi-autobiographical)

David's Story (2000) (novel)
Playing in the Light (2006) (novel)
The One That Got Away (2008) (stories)

So .... is the You Can't Get Lost in Cape Town the debut novel of Zoë Wicomb, or, is it David's Story? Thanks

36119 Just verifying that Nadine Gordimer qualifies as "non-western". Of European parents, Nadine was born and raised in South Africa. She lived there all of her life, until her 2014 death in Johannesburg. wikipedia Nadine Gordimer

36119 I've finished 2 books that are "Countries of the World":

Russian Federation -- The Charm School (1988) by Nelson DeMille (cold war thriller set 99% in Russia)

Sweden -- A Man Called Ove (2012) by Fredrik Backman (set in a small Scandinavian village but in one part they mention that the characters are speaking "Swedish" so I infer that the small village is in Sweden)

I'm also currently reading another Russian book:
Caught in the Revolution: Petrograd, Russia, 1917 – A World on the Edge (2017) by Helen Rappaport

Well, what I do is pull the books out onto the carpet then pick one out at random and that's the one I read. This list picks out the carpet books LOL. I wish I had time to read them all :)
