35559 Soon! Now it's time to juggle reads so that you finish stuff off for UNO at the right time to start the next lot for here

35559 Hi Roe! Good to see you over here.

We will take anything you read gratefully!

35559 The challenge that shall not be named and cover it makes it at least 21 in total!

I forget that Steven only comes to play for towers...

Shame that as a mod you never took full advantage of the power!

35559 Thanks for my honourable mention! Will be swinging by every so often to say hi.

Kids should stay small forever. Not sure my 2 are allowed to get big.

35559 There are so many awesome people in the group, both known and still to be discovered. If I don't mix up the groups we won't bring the new people out of their shells to join the fun.

35559 Posting on my phone with a migraine last night obviously wasn't the way to go for accuracy!

Luckily a night's sleep has solved the migraine. Today I'm doing childcare rather than work so will be around more if anyone else is here to chat.

Alison- something lighter sounds ideal. I've been prioritising lighter reads at the moment because my brain can't cope with more.

35559 Hi Ingeborg! Welcome to tower teams. I'm (and the rest of the team are) happy to answer whatever questions you have. Hopefully it won't be too much of a jump from UNO and the other team challenges you've done.

I've read fantasy for as long as I can remember and it's still one of my happy escapes. Just been asked to beta-read an urban fantasy and I'm excited to help with the writing process of a genre I've spent hours enjoying.

35559 Loving the mix of stuff coming up.

Goodreads is the only social media I use for books, how does it work on Instagram?

35559 Various bits of shorthand:
AFN - author first name
ALN - author last name
CFN - character first name
CLN - character last night
# - series number

Doesn't help that the whole series hasn't been written yet. I've given up with them until they are finished

35559 No judgement from me. I've normally got at least 2 on the go - an audio and a book on my phone. Sometimes there are more than that, depending on my mood.

35559 4 days to go until we start!

We've got a couple of people missing still, but hopefully they'll turn up (and if they don't there are replacements about).

What are the first books you are thinking of reading?

Mine is The Mountain Shadow which has been on my TBR for years. I loved the first book by this author and couldn't tell you how many times I read it, but have been putting this off rhino I'm scared it won't live up to the first one.

if the challenge starts on may 1st why are there already books and pages read by people in the tracking sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/......"

What Trinia said. Some people plan out their reading for the month and like to put the books in when they know what is coming up for them. Others (including me) will put things in as they start or finish them. I'm happy for people to use the sheet in whichever way works for them (or to ignore it completely and put completion posts here).

35559 Hi Dawn, because you signed up after the window for initial sign ups closed, you are currently on the reserve list. We're waiting to see who doesn't check in to their teams for the challenge (there's always a couple...), and then will be assigning the reserves to balance the teams out. So you will probably hear over the weekend via PM.

35559 It can be used for the tower and minis too. Just give us more points on top

35559 notice written in blue balloons

Throughout the challenge there are a few mini-challenges to be completed. The mods have released the first set here. They are all on the tabs on the tracking sheet as well.

For now, I'm happy for people to claim 3 tasks for it, either here or on the tracking sheet. I've locked the mini tabs as they run with autofill formulas from the main sheet so if you add the code from column A of the mini into J on the books tab then it should magically transfer over. If you are claiming a task that someone else has already, the code in J will turn red.

Info about the minis in brief:
1. Spell out of the team names from Tower 2 (crayola colours). 10 points a letter and 20 for a complete word. We get points for all completed words and one partial word.

2. Rainbow of book covers. 18 different colour options. 100 for completing 10 colour cover towers, with a bonus of 200 points for a complete 18 colour cover tower (so 300 total for that tower).

3. Books from the shelves of mods past and present. Links to their shelves on the tab or on the link above. 20 points a book.

4. Past winners of TT. This one needs creativity to come up with links to the team names. I've put some ideas in the sheet, but please let us all know if you have others. 10 points per book.

35559 Wheel tends to be autumn. Exactly when is a little more variable and depends on what other challenges we decide to run. Unlike UNO in perks, NBRC challenges aren't on a strict schedule of once a year (however much some members would like more team challenges).
