35559 Your tbr looks very manageable in comparison to mine and some others I've seen!

Ooof, poor you!

35559 I'd say yes

Liane Moriarty springs to mind as some of hers have groups of friends. Kirsten Hannah also has some that would fit the bill.

If you are into urban fantasy/paranormal romance then the later October Daye, Kate Daniels, Harry Dresden have ensemble casts that I'd definitely say were a groups of friends.

Task: Read a book where MCs are neighbours

I'd re-read Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec, but I need even page #s :(

I also read [bookcover..."

In the not a romance category, [book:The Couple Next Door|28815474] might be worth a look. Page number would depend on the edition you could get.

35559 Mine is a book with MPG magic which makes a good change from some of the previous.

Linda, if you head over to the 2023 thread and make a post there, we'll get you linked up.

Hi Megan!

If you follow the instructions in post 3 you can make your own maze and account.

Have fun!

35559 I have a next in series shelf, but am not great about either adding stuff to it, or remembering to look at it rather than going on shiny new series yay!

Having been stung by GoT and Kingkiller, I have a similar attitude to Sammy. Still have a degree of frustration about the Kinsey Milhone alphabet series that stops at Y because the author died.

35559 I really enjoyed it. Have no idea why it was left for so long! My systems for remembering series is not functioning as I want. Hopefully working through my TBR will start to fix that.

35559 Mistress of the Empire (The Empire Trilogy, #3) by Raymond E. Feist

3rd in a trilogy that would have got off to a better start if it hadn't been a few years since I read the last one. Or maybe the writing for the 1st third was actually slow as other reviewers have suggested. No matter, it improved and was a solid 4* by the end.

35559 #5 Holding the Dream (Dream Trilogy, #2) by Nora Roberts

Was tagged as a priority to read in 2018...

35559 Thanks everyone! Probably going to read Mistress of the Empire to get a bit further with that series.

I enjoyed Good Omens and Leviathan Rises (finished the series). I've added some of the other recommendations to my TBR (getting it below 200 by the end of the year is already going backwards).

35559 I'm in search of some recommendations.

Read a book co-written (and credited) to two authors

My reading of this is that I want both author's names on the cover so Ilona Andrews wouldn't count for me - or I'd be well away and onto the next one by now.

ETA: heading East so even would be ideal, but would depend on edition I could get so please don't worry about it.

35559 #3 Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run, #7) by Abigail Roux
The series was recommended to me ages ago and I think this might be the year I finally finish it. Has been useful for Z in wheels etc over the years!

#4 A Pair of Blue Eyes by Thomas Hardy
No more reading because I feel I ought to. I've felt this odd sense that I should read Hardy's books and this has been on my tbr since 2014. I started it 10 days ago and am 20 pages in - if it can't hold my attention I refuse to force my brain into it. Life is too short.

Might try again one day, but it is also fine if I decide not to. (Personal growth is happening!).

If you change the tab down at the bottom to 2023, you should then see the up to date info.

35559 2. Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone (Outlander, #9) by Diana Gabaldon
I wanted to love this. It's a series I adored the first 5 books of, but that is gradually going further away from what I want somehow. Is there a phenomenon where series get turned into TV shows and the writers stop being edited properly? It feels like no-one is removing the bloat and unnecessary characters any more to tighten it into a really great story, rather than a good one that sprawls over 900 pages!
Jan 05, 2023 09:29PM

35559 Yes you can use it as many times as you want.
Jan 04, 2023 06:09AM

35559 Good start so far everyone!

I've hit the ground running this year, but will probably do what happened the last couple of years and do well until February then be distracted by shiny and new.

Do No Harm Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery by Henry Marsh - this had been on my TBR since 2014 and I'm glad I've read it now. Was an interesting look at one surgeon's stories of his career in brain surgery; although it lacked a narrative thread tying the chapters together so it felt that it just ended rather than having a message running through it. I'm not so sure how easy it would have been to understand to someone without knowledge of how the NHS trains doctors and there was a lot of medical jargon in it.

35559 I've thought about my goal now and have updated my post.

Currently my TBR total is 201. My aim to get this to 180 either by deleting or reading. Challenge here is not adding something to replace everything read!
