That sounds great!

I added a second round of Admin mini - we can add books which are completed after Brooke has read her book!

35559 Our round 4 word is "Off-balance Washer"!

35559 DQs Day 4- Now - Then first line "It's just a sprained ankle..." - last line "Don't contact me again."

15. We’re over halfway through the book. Have your impressions of the characters changed?

Umm, Marcus is one of the most annoying characters I have read in a while. My opinion of Dylan has changed - think he is too gullible. I am quite liking Deb - the only sane character

16. Rodney’s motives now become clear, how do you see this plot line panning out?

Meh - doesn't matter but Rodney is funny

17. We learn more of Marcus’ issues and his apparent need to destroy Dylan and Addie’s relationship as well as destroy any chance of them getting back together. How do you predict this relationship triangle will be resolved?

They will get back together and I kind of saw Marcus creating a problem for them since the beginning. He is just that friend one shouldn't have. They obviously have to talk things out. But any sane girl can't be in a relationship with a guy who has a guy like Marcus as a bestie in real life - period.

18. Etienne is chasing Addie for extra-curricular activities. What are your thoughts on this?

So predictable and tiring to me to be honest.
35559 6. The author goes for the switching POVs and timelines method. How do you like these in general? And do you think it is a good fit for this book?

It does kind of make sense as you want to understand what had happened while present-day progresses. I wish the chapters were a bit longer as it keeps switching a lot.

7. We get to meet some more characters along the way in the "THEN" section: Dylan's uncle Terry, his brother, the mysterious Grace and other friends whose dynamics to Dylan and Marcus should shed some more light on their characters and motivation. But do they? Do you feel like you are getting to know them better? Or understand them? (Or care?)

I don't care much about the characters but the impact they had on our MCs or what role they play on the breakup, if any.

8. What do you think about Dylan's and Addie's past relationship in France? Do you like it/find it convincing? What about their sudden meeting in the present and the insta-lust after all the emotional baggage they seem to be dragging with them?

For sure, the previous history would have impact in the present day. I think it was more than a vacation romance for them.

9. I'm not really sure I'd call this book a "romance" though it certainly offers the trope of second-chance. Do you have any favourite romantic trope(s) or one that you especially dislike?

I think its second chance romance. My favourite trope is grumpy sunshine.

10. Any guesses what part Rodney may play in the plot or do you think he's just some kind of "filler" character?

Comic relief maybe
35559 DQs Day 1
Now - Now last line "...reach out and touch her."

1.) Is this your first book by O'Leary? Only reading for points and that lovely 'O' letter for Wheel-a-thon or was it already on your tbr list?

Yes, first book, but wanted to read one of her books for a while

2.) Road trips. Love them, hate them? If you've gone on a road trip before what are some must have for the journey?

It depends - I have motion sickness so dont like very long drives. We had once done a road trip across Italy which was fun with friends. Must have: good company, music, water, some bites, comfortable seating

3.) Deb's comment about never having a baby obviously proved untrue. Do we think the baby daddy is going to make an appearance in the story? Or do you think it's a no name person who isn't relevant to the book?

Irrelevant to me and hopefully stays that way

4.) The flagrant unconcern about money by half the characters is a bit gross. Do you think that's at the root of Dylan and Addie's split? Or do you think it's the mysterious Grace? Marcus especially seems to not know the whole breakup story. Any guesses to why Dylan didn't seem to tell him the truth?

Well, few people are just privileged.

I feel Marcus would have a role in the split, he seems very annoying. Money and few small problems might add up but clearly that can't be the reason.

5.) Initial impressions of the cast of characters?

I like Dylan and he seems a reasonable person. Dont like Marcus.

35559 Patti, could you please recheck the publication for The Reappearance of Rachel Price - seems 2024 to me?

35559 Done with my last book for this round! It can be used as an O also if needed.
Oct 26, 2024 04:54AM

35559 I dont think I will get my Tessa Dare book done. I am traveling so unable to update/remove but I am pushing on the chonker one!
Oct 25, 2024 10:53AM

35559 I believe it should refer to the edition you have read or linked to the shelf i.e. the cover of the audiobook version. For page numbers, the audiobook version won't have anything so hence we use the default edition.

This is the response from the mods

"For food in text, it needs to be found as part of the story. So it depends where the recipe is found. As extras in the back, no.

Recipe in the main pages of the book/story, yes"

35559 The feeding family one scares me also haha but I am sure we will manage with the group.

We can also repeat any of these minis as many times as we want once we have done one full round completely. So if we are lagging in one mini, we can always try to repeat another one! Unfortunately we cannot bank books.

Haha! It is the same for me. That's how I find books I would have never read or atleast find an order to read the books. Without challenges, I am so lost.
Oct 22, 2024 06:03PM

35559 I picked up 2 chonkers so might not be able to get to my O book before the end!

Also, sneak peaked into the challenge status sheet - though we aren't #1, we seem to have read a whopping 74 books so far (highest as I can see). Way to go team!
