Discussion Questions Day 2Part One, Chapter 6 - Part One, Chapter 12
6. In this part Inez spends some time with Mr. Hayes. What did you think of their afternoon in Cairo? Did you enjoy their banter?
Lol Jeez, I thought parts of it were hilarious. I pictured a short-legged, bald, plump middle age man in his 50's chasing her down. I don't know why but that was my vision. I loved it when she said she blew him a kiss because gave her a rude gesture. It reminded me of how different cultures can view a hand sign and other gestures. When I was in college we had a visiting professor from Russia and he asked me what it meant when we used quote markes while talking, so I told him. He told me in his country it means like "a promiscuous butterfly," but he was not real comfortable telling me so the way he presented himself I assumed it meant like a slut or a ho or worse like maybe even a prostitute.
7. After sensing familiar magic from an old trinket, Inez buys it and later has a vision of Cleopatra. What do you think this vision means? Do you believe Cleopatra’s burial site can only be found with Inez’s help?
I don't necessarily think it can only be found by her help, but I do think that her help will expedite finding it and I do think she'll take part in it.
8. Every now and then, the point of view shifts briefly to Mr. Hayes. Do you enjoy these moments from his perspective, or would you prefer the story to stay entirely with Inez?
Generally I do like multiple POV's as we get better insight into the mind/thoughts of the characters that if it's in 3rd person or only told from one POV. So I've been okay with it for the most part.
9. Inez finds a letter from her mother, in which she suspects that Tío Ricardo is involved in illegal activities. Does this letter, along with the boat conversation Inez overhears, make you suspicious of Tío Ricardo? Or do you think he’s not responsible for Inez’s parents’ murder?
I have been suspicious of him ever since she received the letter from him that her parents were dead but no proof of that being true. Then after she arrived and he immediately wanted to send her back without ever seeing her added to my suspicions. Now, with these extra scenes, of course I'm more suspicious than ever. He definitely knows something he's holding back and keeping from her.
OK, then I'll go ahead and remove it. I'm mainly reading it now for the BOTM points so I'll wait to add it until I am finished.
Cap/co-cap, I had put my book for letter I on the Spell Out for Nigeria, but this morning it was gone. My book on the books tab was still listed for the author's name but the letters were missing, so I added them back and now it's on the spell out. I didn't know if one of you had removed it and wanted it for something else or if it just somehow got knocked off so if either of you purposely removed it please let me know. I am not trying to go over your heads!

OK, I misunderstood. I think it's safe to remove/move to reserves my book Picking Lemons which is only 195 pages.
So if, for example, I were to read three books over my cap and somebody else didn’t reach their cap. You would still be able to use my extra books or not? I’m a little confused as usual lol

I should have realized that with two huge challenges I'm doing (among smaller ones) that I'd read as many as I have. I'm going to SLOW down my reading over the next couple weeks and only go for larger page count books. Jeez, I only have 9 books left. Ugh...oh well, this round ends on June 16 if I remember correctly, so I will have some non-read days I guess or take more time to pleasure read and soak them in or focus on some other challenges/updating on the computer. I will pace myself better next time...I hope! lol
Funny, not one of my books was published in Aug for the upcoming books planned either. lol Nor in March. What the heck!

Oh, I read it as state/country meaning state OR country. That's why I thought it was so easy. lol My state is California. So the book I posted was because I live in the U.S. so one of you removed it since that didn't take place in my state but in the U.S. so thanks. :)
There are a lot of books in the U.S. that I could claim. I figured that one was easy but I guess you ladies don't necessarily know where we all live. lol I figured the caps would fill them for #32. I posted a book with a good page count for this one.I posted a book for Pasta on the cover, but it's only 243 pages and it's a Memoir. Since it doesn't have "characters" are we allowed to use nonfiction? If someone else has a bigger book always feel free to move mine around. This is a book I've been planning on reading so I'm reading it either way.
The only time we can use a book for 2 tasks is if one is for Cheese, right?
I'm sorry I keep having questions. I had banked The Love Haters so I put it on V for the spell out so I still keep it as BANKED on the BOOKS tab?
OK, I didn't understand that. I thought we could only use books that we finished after a new cheese or other tasks were posted. Sorry, no U characters. :(
But if they throw one at us tomorrow, for example, and I finish it today then I can't use it for a new cheese, right? So I'm thinking not to finish it until our next cheese if something fits. But I do need to finish it by May 31.
Angie ☯ wrote: "Miss Vicki,We have a banked book that can work for the Q - let me know if you want to save yours for something else or if you want to finish it now.
I'm expecting a fast spoiling cheese sometime..."
LOL Fast spoiling cheese? Angie, I am using my Q book for meatballs, so I don't mind saving it for another task but can I add it later if I finish it today and use it for meatballs? If not, I can wait to finish it but not sure what else I can use it for. I'll do whatever you and Jenny say is best.
One more question (for now!): I had planned The Briar Club for Mini-2 Traveling (pub. July) but it also has meatballs in it. I'm going to read it later today so we can use it for the spell out. Wondering if I should switch it over to meatballs or leave it in Mini-2.

YAY!
