Well done! I think I've had my fill of Dostoevsky for a while. Def need to be in the right mood 😁

That’s what I found after the initial joy of free books. So many were terrible 😬😊

I haven’t watched it either. I’m not sure I’m curious enough! The BBC adaptations of some of Pratchetts books have been great though

35559 Thank you! 😍😊

35559 I did it!
Oldest book on my TBR (from 2013) and on this challenge list for the last... 7 years? 😜
Not at all the book's fault, just that I wanted to do all the city watch series in order
Snuff (Discworld, #39; City Watch, #8) by Terry Pratchett
I feel so accomplished!
Makes me kind of sad reading these though as Terry Pratchett was one of the good ones. Should have been in this world a lot longer

Not sure I know what rhat is.

If you go to the top right to your profile picture and click that and then comments.
Then you can check out your comments in different groups until you find it :)

35559 I started Harmless Like You by Rowan Hisayo Buchanan from 2016 but after 90-ish pages I decided I didn’t want to keep going. So although I hate to do it, I bit the bullet and added it to my “gave up on” shelf! I won’t count it for this challenge though as I do want to actually read these oldies!
Started Silver Bay by Jojo Moyes instead as Moyes’ books are always a lovely read

I seemed to add a lot of YA back then! I think it was due to NBRC there were a lot of YA readers at the time that I was talking recs from. And when my kids were young they were perfect - don’t need to think reads. But I don’t really read much in that genre anymore

Well done!
I’ve also found those older ones don’t necessarily suit my taste anymore either. I’ve become more ruthless at deleting 😬

35559 I’m really happy with my challenge this year! I read the oldest book on my tbr (from 2013) and knocked out some other chunksters that have been sitting there for a while.
15/12 done AND my tbr actually went down by 10 to 347 as at the end of 2023 😊

35559 Finally!!
This has taunted me from my tbr for years. My oldest one (from 2013).
The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss

and I really enjoyed it! I will start book 2 soon and then wait like everyone else to see if book 3 is ever released.....

Haha now I’m going to be watching those coffee cups 🤭

I agree there would have been lots of people wanting to play Elizabeth. I guess I would continue on if I loved the book, but… too many other things to watch!!
I did just finish Scrublands tv series and it was great. Probably also as it has been a few years since I read the book so I didn’t really remember the mystery
