35559 Hello, my Book Thieving teamies!

Countdown is here for the end of Round 2: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

We have 1 day and 3 hours as of this post. We have 2 complete spellouts, and in order to complete a third...

We need 16 books read.
3 have been finished as of this post.
I have 2 that I WILL FINISH before the deadline. (unless we decide different)
So that's 11 books that need finishing.

I'm going to add a tally here for reference:
3/16 READ

Jess: 2 TBR (confirmed in m 140)
Kirsten: 2 TBR (confirmed in m 141)
Ashley: 2 TBR (confirmed in m 139)
Rosina: 1 TBR (confirmed in m 142)

I'm just keeping track, none of this is set in stone and if we don't finish this one, it's OK!
Nov 26, 2022 11:07AM

35559 Oh that's been on my TBR forever!

@Amanda: When you get a moment, can you add Winter to your wheels bookshelf? Thank you!

@Deanna: Wicked Forever is missing from your Wheels shelf! :)

That would be great!!

I'm back from hell week at work, and will be reading more and able to post and answer questions! Sorry for the QUIET week... seems like everyone was quiet, but you all got way more reading done than me!

35559 Just giving a heads up that this week (well, the first part of it anyway!) I will be less active and less able to answer questions, as the holiday is a bit busy at my work. I'll mostly be checking in once in the evening only!

Also, I decided to hold my book for next week. I'm not quite finished and I haven't had time to get to reading it with all my chaos this week, so I'll be moving it to Round 2!

I have Circe and just haven't started it yet, Kirsten! So I think I will definitely try to add it in for Round 2! I'll have to look into this Canongate's Myth series this evening when I have more time!

35559 oh sorry! it is on the main challenge spreadsheet. the one that shows all the teams scores/ranking.

35559 Hi Book Theifiests!

Countdown to the end of Round 1 and the start of Round 2: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...
As of this post, it's 1 DAY, 5 HOURS, 23 MINUTES

Our new word for Round 2 has been posted and here it is!

Word: THE CARTOGRAPHERS
Color: BLUE
Tag: MYTHOLOGY
35559 Day 3 DQs

9. More and more Delaney secrets are being revealed. Learning that Stan would get upset over something and just leave regardless of the situation was very odd, especially with stopping the car on the way to a tournament in the middle of the highway and just walking away. This was the strangest of the described behaviors to me. What secret made you pause? Did any of the secrets help you to understand the family dynamic?
I don't think any of the secrets really bothered me too much. I didn't think it was odd that Stan would just walk away, considering his history with his father, although it was definitely not great behavior. I found it more bizarre the length of time he is gone for.

10. Joy’s narration of the events of Father’s day were more dramatic than any of the other views. She kept referring to feeling sick and the things she was describing kept making me think of poisoning but I really don’t trust Savannah! What caught your attention from this section of the story? Do you have any theories on the circumstances of Joy’s disappearance?
My first instinct was that shes trying to give Stan a taste of his own medicine, but I don't think that's it.

11. Joy and Savannah are enjoying an afternoon of shopping. During their stop at the cafeteria, we see a glimpse into a different Savannah. She reveals that she did classical ballet and she seems to have contempt for the child ballerina who was eating a cupcake. Do you think this was a look into the “real” Savannah and what, if anything, does it tell you about her past?
I think Savannah has issues with food... I'm guess due to the ballerina thing.

12. Savannah shows up unexpectedly at Troy’s home with a story she wants to tell him; it takes Troy a bit to realize the true intent of the visit. Were you surprised by visit or did you expect something like this? How do you think Troy will handle the situation? Do you think this is Savannah’s true reason for seeking out the Delaney’s or is there more to it?
I expected something off from Savannah, but maybe not this. I think there's definitely more to everything going on here.

also if I start BOM this week we can use for net week word?"

My understanding is to gain BOM participation credit players must:
- start reading on or after 1 Nov 22
- finish reading by the end of the challenge
- respond to at least three sets of DQs for the BOM
To this end, you can start it anytime you'd like during the challenge.

To use that book for a letter this week, you need to finish it this week. If you don't finish this week, you can use it for a letter next week. If you finish THIS WEEK, we HAVE TO USE IT THIS WEEK, and we can't use it next week.

If I'm wrong, Deanna can correct me, but that's how I understood the rules. :)

And yes, space opera is this week ONLY!

It's a super good novella! I really liked it! Definitely read it for something!
