35559 Mama, I usually hold the same opinion. I decided to give it one more try and just listen on audiobook while I'm doing other things. We shall see if I persevere, or say to hell with it

35559 5 more days (give or take)! So excited!

I have a few random books I'm trying to finish up before we start, including a novel I've been struggling with for years.

EMMA...

I can't seem to get into it, even though I enjoyed the movie. I figure at some point I'll just get to the end... I probably should just give up. HAH!

Does anyone have a book they struggle with like that?

35559 So, how do they pick who they will write DQs?

35559 Ok, I volunteered for TBoCC. I'll hold off for the other for now and be a possible backup as well!
35559 Volunteering for DQs for Team Agamemnon! :)

35559 That's great! I just have to volunteer in the main BOM post for the book? I've never done this, I was trying to see what everyone else was doing.
I'm more secure in being able to get The Book of Cold Cases, so I feel more confident in volunteering.

35559 The 2 June BOM have been announced and I am going to try to get them BOTH at the library, so I'll definitely do the discussion if I get them and I would like to try to do the DQs on one, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get both, so I don't want to volunteer for the wrong one... how early/late do we have to be to do it?

35559 I was thinking I might claim Task #27 (Tagged Tragedy), but I wanted to confirm it was a legitimate claim.

The Handmaid's Tale (Margaret Atwood)

35559 This is my "tentative" book list for the 2 weeks we have in May. I may end up scaling this back some because...

1. I have to have minor surgery on the 23rd (although this may just be a great excuse to lay down and read MORE). -and-
2. I have a couple on hold at the Library and it's possible I won't get them in time.

Telesa: The Covenant Keeper (Lani Wendt Young)
To Paradise (Hanya Yanagihara)
How High We Go in the Dark (Sequoia Nagamatsu)
These Violent Delights (Chloe Gong)
The Sympathizer (Viet Thang Nguyen)
Opium and Absinthe (Lydia Kang)
Heat Stroke (Rachel Caine)
The Handmaid's Tale (Margaret Atwood)
A Court of Thorns and Roses (Sarah J. Maas)
Telesa The Covenant Keeper (Telesa, #1) by Lani Wendt Young To Paradise by Hanya Yanagihara How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen Opium and Absinthe by Lydia Kang Heat Stroke (Weather Warden, #2) by Rachel Caine The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. Maas

I've added 2 to the spreadsheet (after noticing a 2 claim limit in Melissa's original post), and I'll add more as I actually read them.

35559 I'm excited to hear about everyone's pets, and I forgot to say we just got a new puppy (well, at the beginning of March...) and he's a JOY and ... going to be very large. He is a mutt... some sort of brindle Catahoula mix and he will be 16 weeks on Sunday and is already 37lbs!

Holy moly! That's a lot of reading! Ok, I'll just read my little heart out and we can cut 'em if we go over! :)

35559 Melissa (or any other captain)... is there a way I can find out how many books I'm signed up for?

I originally said 10, but then was afraid I might overread and asked the mod to up it to 15, but I'm not sure that was ever done. I know they were super busy with getting the Teams formed. So I just to know which one I need to aim for!

35559 Yes! Thank you for clarifying. I think I was getting confused about the pre-challenge BOM rules and somehow adding them into the point system you just described!
