DQs: Chapters 1-11
1. Have you read The Sun Down Motel by this author? If so, does it change your expectation for this book? Either way, what are your expectations for this book?
I have not read any other books by this author, but I'm excited to get into this one!
2. The MC writes about cold cases and is in her late 20s and divorced. I have read quite a few horror/thriller/mystery books recently where the MC is a recently divorced, usually a bit older, woman. Have you experienced this as well? Why do you think authors might make this choice? Why do you think the choice was made for this book?
I have not really experienced this, because this is not my usual genre. I think authors might make this choice for many reasons:
> It allows for more freedom of movement with the MC, travel, etc without the baggage.
> There is a certain amount of “trauma” involved in a divorce, so it makes the MC more likely to take risks, like chasing down a killer!
> More LIFE EXPERIENCE!
3. This section includes the start of the interview. Did it go the way you expected? Any one comment really stick out to you?
I’m not sure I had any expectations for the interview, but I assumed that she would be as closed as she was. I do think that she wants someone to believe her, though I’m only guessing at what needs to be believed at this point.
4. What do you think about the ghostly occurrences in this section? How do they add to the story (or maybe detract)?
It definitely presents a potential plot twist, maybe paranormal, or maybe just psychological, in nature. Both would add good depth to the story.

I finished the Duke and I and will update the tracker later today!"
It's all good! I also have anothe..."

Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You, I'll add to the tracker in a bit! :)

How are participation points awarded for the team if I'm "late" reading... the reading is meant to start 2-Jun... but if I got the book, say, 4-June, is it pointless to try to catch up? Do we have to answer questions "on-time"? What is the cut-off?
I hope that makes sense.

This is on my (ridiculously LONG) TBR list! I'm excited someone I know has read and recommended it now! Yay!

I finished the Duke and I and will update the tracker later today!

I'm *hoping* to finish these books by the end of the month since I've already started them, and I just like a good buttoned-up month. I don't know if they are needed for the Mini (it didn't seem that way when I added my last book) but I figured I'd let the Captains know just in case we needed to shuffle things for some reason.
The Hacienda - 352pgs
The Duke and I - 384pgs
Also, I have a question. I remember in the rules that we can't use boxsets, etc and must break them and use them as each individual book.
The only version of The Duke and I that I could get at the library was this one: Bridgerton Collection Volume 1: The First Three Books in the Bridgerton Series
I do plan to read the next one in the series, but not now and I plan to return this ebook before I do (and then perhaps check in out again later if needed.
Which book should I choose the page count from? The one I used above is the default one that pops up when I search "The Duke and I". Is that always the best policy, or should I try to match covers, or match format (ebook)?

So much going on! Lol"
I can't imagine being a mod for this challenge! There is so much going on! Although, I should have asked to be a co-captain, because I'm missing doing it after UNO!
THE FOMO - AGAIN!

The end of next month I should be able to add to the ss.
Thank u all for the help!:)"
Sorry, adding it now :)"
Hey! Not that it is super important if the link is correct, but the title is These Violent Delights, not These Violent Deaths
