You can read a book for the page count Sally. I'm sure that we can slot it in somewhere as well. Most likely the Jackonary tasks if nothing else fits. We can also shuffle other books around to accommodate yours.
You can definitely 'bags' a task! But see if it fits anywhere else as well. I think having at least 2 or 3 other options than what you've chosen will be helpful.
With your books, you can add in a new 'date read' for the book and the edition.
If it is the same edition of the book:
- Click on the book
- Scroll to the heading 'My Activity'. To the right of it you will see 'edit' in gray.
- Click on 'edit'
- Scroll down to 'dates read'
- Click on 'Add read date'
- Enter your new dates
- Scroll down and press 'Post'!
Et voilà! You have a new date read for the book!
If it's a different edition for the same book then it should be as normal.
 Update
UpdateI have some more information in messages 5 and 6 on our thread, including the book recommendations. I will keep updating it as more recommendations come out.
We will use the following for our books:
1. Completion posts on this thread
2. Tracking spreadsheet (ss)
3. Main team spreadsheet - for captains only.
1. Completion Posts
When completing a book, you can use this format:
Book:
Author:
Narrator/Translator: (if fitting)
Date Read:
Used for: (Tasks/Bingo/Jackonary)
How it fits:
Other options:
Tasks:
Bingo:
Jackonary:
* Not entered on SS
I have an example in message 5.
2. Tracking Spreadsheet
I have sent you all a message about it!
Use the "Books" tab to enter information about your book. You can add in all your books at once or you can do it book by book. It's up to you. The way Jessi and I will know that your book is ready to be entered into the spreadsheet is when you've entered the 'date read' for your book.
I have a book there as an example of how you can enter your book on the sheet.
But basically you can enter as little or as much details as you want on it. Use columns G-I to enter information about Tasks, Bingo and Jackonary. Use the 'Used For' column to select where your task is chosen to go. You can enter it in the relevant tab as well and add a link to it if you're really keen (not necessary at all!!!). I have done it so you can see how I've entered my book in.
3. Main Spreadsheet
Jessi and I will enter the details in it :)
I hope this clears up the knowledge gaps for everyone!

You can list the books for the month if you know what you’re reading. I tend to put my book is once I’ve read them as I change my mind a lot with which book to read.
I’m tweaking the last few things in the spreadsheet we’ll be using which will help with book allocations. Your book counts for either Task, Bingo or jackonary. If it’s a BOM then it counts for that too

We could do that! I think it would be fun. I think it would be good if you still posted some recommendations on the thread so we know who has recommended what book. Saturday night is my down night so I’ll collect our recommendations and put them in one place for us and for other teams to find
Hopefully I can get the tracking sheet up and running too. I have a long weekend coming up which is nice! Note sure if my fellow Aussie’s have ANZAC holiday on Monday as well
It’s much needed though!

Agreed! Generally, if you have the book or can get the BOM book, discworld themed or not then it’s a super help and boost for our points!

I’ve always wanted to go to NZ. There’s so much to experience there.
Have a look around and see if everything is clear to you!

To start, I'd suggest for you to have a look at the rules and familiarise yourself with them. Then to have a look at the Team Spreadsheet and read through the tasks, bingo and jackonary and see what you can read for or would like to read for.
Please also post your shelf for this challenge here when you get a chance

Haha no worries Namita! We'll help you out provided we don't get confused ourselves. 😂
But seriously we have a few veterans here so we're here to help :)
@Stacey and Jessie - I definitely agree with you both. Like hotels weirding you out Jessi, doll and chestnut like things have me a bit wary of them. I remember thinking in Sun down that the aunty was stuck in the year of the incident and the niece was going to jump through a cupboard (like Narnia) and travel back in time to save her. Needless to say that did not happen haha but it explained how I felt reading the book

I'm going to start with the BOM books and see where they take me. But also just read what my library has already.
I think the consensus is to read any of the books except for Books 1 and 2. The ones people recommend are the BOMs as far as I know :P

Ooh a few of them have been BOMs here. The chestnut man still leaves a weird memory in my head but I liked it. I think I liked it more than the sun down. I think it was more predictable than chestnut man. What do you think?

Jessi is correct with her response in message 51. With tineye, it can be helpful but I’m not a complete fan. If we need to verify a colour in the cover, you can use it as a guide and check with the team. Then if we’re divided we can ask the other captains.
And don’t be wary of posting any ideas on how to best utilise our books for points. I love ideas 😆
I like to be a part of teams who are here to have fun but wild also really like to win hehe. I do think we should aim to complete the group of tasks that give us the most points (rincewind, city watch). Aiming for get the story done for jackonary would be good too for the bonus points

It has such a lovely cover. It sounds like a promising read. I couldn't find a copy to read for the BOM so I'm glad you've volunteered for the DQs

The tasks list in the the team spreadsheet for now. It would be good if you can have a read through the tasks and see if there is any you think you can read for or would like to read for. Have a look at the 'Tasks' tab, 'Bingo' tab and 'Jackanory' tab :)
