35559 Harpies slain!
Here is the replacement!

Polyphemus (Cyclops)

Polyphemus has been seen on your lands, searching for a new optometrist. Maybe he can be pacified with a good recommendation for an in-network doctor. Very hard to kill but can be distracted with sheep. He loves his sheep. Also, might distract him by discussing what a complete dink Ulysses really is despite his fame.

To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 500 and 650 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book that takes place on an island.
3.) Read a book where a character engages in some sort of trickery (your interpretation).
4.) Read a book with sheep AND people on the cover.
5.) Read a book whose MC is a farmer.

35559 Nemean Lion slain!
Here is the replacement:

Cerberus

Cerberus has decided to take a jaunty run through your lands before returning to the underworld. He's very hard to defeat, don't let those 6 puppy dog eyes fool you. May want to bring some milk bones and tennis balls.

To vanquish this monster you must:
1.) Read a book between 500 and 650 pages (inclusive).
2.) Read a book where a funerary celebration/service takes place.
3.) Read a book with MPG Music.
4.) Read a book with a musical instrument on the cover.
5.) Read a book that is #3 in a series.

I've got the two hands on the cover in the works (I'll put it on the spreadsheet now :)

For the plain, it says it's a plain.... :)

No worries! Yes, all colds seem to be that much worse. I had one in March that laid me out flat for 4 days.

Oof. That looks tough. I'm reading Becoming Kareem Growing Up On and Off the Court by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for a unit I'm planning for next year on biographies. It has the rope of the basketball net on the front! I could finish it tomorrow.

Still reading Wild Life Dispatches from a Childhood of Baboons and Button-Downs by Keena Roberts for the Africa book. I am loving it, so am reading it a little more slowly. Hope to finish it this weekend though.

How was biking through Mississippi and Louisiana? I've never been there. There is a southern literary book tour that goes through Mississippi and Alabama that I'd like to do some time. I've never been to Alabama either.

I'm such a northerner, I'm afraid I'd spontaneously combust in the heat.

Nice. We took a cross country road trip when my kids were little - some of my favorite memories are from that trip. I don't think we hit Oklahoma though. I think you're supposed to eat steak there?

Have you read books from the different states? I have seen that as a challenge before, and I've thought that was a good way to see things too - through books and all.

Just not as tasty as traveling around and sampling things as you go :)

Looks great! I have about 30 minutes left of my Octopus book - I'll listen tomorrow at 4:00 my time and finish it quickly :)

I might prowl about the other monsters too to see what's going on.
