Put me down for #3 in series. I'll read Nonna Maria and have it done by tonight or tomorrow I went ahead and bought internet for the cruise because I'm reading competitive and I also didn't want to lose my duo Lingo 650 day streak. I still only have the app tho
I'll have Sunflower House finished sometime during our flight. will check it in early evening. Hope that works!
I'm travelling a lot today and can probably finish the sunflower house. But if Marty finishes her book first that's fine
Teddie, drinker of the bitter invention of Satan wrote: "I know - sooo fast!I started listening to Carl's Doomsday Scenario today - hilarious - and guess what y'all? I'm going to actually finish Lonesome Dove in the next f..."
I need to read Lonesome Dove - lol after the challenge probably since I already have my challenge list :)
DQs Day 3, Chapter 14-2111. Ack! Why do these kinds of stories always have the not-quite-yet couple decide after a steamy session that they need to keep their relationship platonic? You know that both people just go off wistfully lusting after each other and regretting the whole platonic agreement! What other tropes in romance novels drive you nuts? This one for sure is frustrating - for all involved haha. But the one I hate the most is the whole keeping secrets "if I told him/her it'll destroy the relationship".
12. It's a huge step for (view spoiler) It's so easy to get bogged down by things, and then it can be so hard to let them go. Have you had to deal with similar situations (the general situation of having accumulated too much but having trouble downsizing)? Things have SO much emotional content that for sure - it can be hard to let go. When we got rid of a lot of baby things, I took photos of the young girl in/by them before we gave the stuff away.
13. Any further thoughts about Miles's family background? We learn a bit more in these chapters about what growing up with his mother was like for him; is there more to his estrangement than that? I've finished the book, but just have to say - that lack of emotional security - how hard that would be! Poor Miles and his sister!
14. What are your thoughts about Julia? What do you think is her real motivation for her visit to Miles? I didn't like her at first but she really grew on me!!
I pretty much have my books set up to read and won't be able to change some things once I leave in the morning. But I'll ask for help on anything I can't change.
I personally think reading for the district tasks is more fun too. But I'm happy to go with whatever the team decides!
As long as narrator initials count (I DID listen to it), we can use my Gulf Coast Moonlight for E, R or F. I'll have it done later today. And I should have Killer Party (for purple text) done tonight or tomorrow morning.
Maritza wrote: "My book The Perfect Marriage takes place in Washington DC and mc is a lawyer"Oh nice Maritza - perfect timing!
I'm almost done listening to Gulf Coast Moonlight - it'll be done today. The narrators aren't listed on Goodreads, but they would work for LFPARWSEN. Here is the audible link:https://www.audible.com/pd/Gulf-Coast...
Anyway - it's #5 in series, but that's not too hard, if we want to use it for a letter (like the F).
For Alas, Babylon - I'm fine if it is used for the F, but it does work for related to nuclear weapon on cover and in plot, and that might be more useful?
DQs Day 2 Chapter 9-136. In this section, we learn that the countdown at the start of every chapter is for the Read-a-thon, a reading event Daphne is planning at the library. Did you try to figure out what it was about? What did you think? Or were you just along for the ride, waiting to find to, like I was? I wasn't really curious - I figured it was maybe when her lease expired or something. The Read-a-thon makes more sense.
7. Speaking of the Read-a-thon, have you heard of or participated in (or even organized!) something like it? Would you like to? No but it sounds great! I have gone to a few release nights and they were memorable.
8. “[Sadie] and Cooper were our best friends” Daphne is not only going through the end of her romantic relationship, but also seems to have lost her best friend. What’s your take on that? Have you ever been on either side of this situation? (No need to answer/go into detail of course!) It really does seem easy to happen because so often our friends happen because we have something important in common (kids the same age, etc. )
9. “I think the beard is sheer chaos, but not inherently bad. It’s your face, Miles. All that matters is how you feel about it.” I think Daphne makes a great point here and think we should all remember that a bit more before we judge people’s looks. Were there any quotes that really stood out to you? I had to return my book, but there were quotes I would definitely highlighted if I'd read it on Kindle. And I think that was a very good point about the beard. Why judge!?
10. What do you think is up with Miles’s family so he doesn’t have a relationship with his parents? How do you feel about Daphne neither probing nor really wondering about it? As I finished the book, I know the answer to this. I do think Daphne not probing is probably good - it seems to be a very sensitive area, and they aren't super close friends at this point - he doesn't know if he can emotionally trust her. And he may not even know how to express everything.
I finished
which can cover our yellow book if needed. Putting it in the spreadsheet now, and will add all the things it works for.
